Among law firms advising on private infrastructure assignments internationally, in 1998 Privatisation International ranked Stikeman, Elliott 22nd by number of assignments and 11th by value of projects. We are the only Canadian representative in the top ten legal firms in the world in International Financial Law Review surveys. In 1993, Stikeman, Elliott ranked 10th in the league tables of all law firms advising lead managers on Eurobond issues in London. Canadian Business found Stikeman, Elliott to be 'among the few Canadian law firms recognized worldwide as a major player.' The December 1996 issue of the U. Stikeman, Elliott has been involved in numerous merger and acquisition transactions involving residents of many countries and spanning diverse industries both regulated and unregulated. The firm has extensive experience with leveraged buy-outs, management buy-outs and joint ventures. The firm has a rapidly expanding International Advisory Services group centered in its Montreal office, which systematically pursues international legal consulting mandates. The Government of Chad in connection with the private development of oil fields and the construction of a pipeline to the Atlantic coast of Cameroon;

The Government of Guinea in connection with the reform of legislation governing mining;

The Government of the State of Gujarat, India in connection with the reform of electricity legislation and regulation;

The Government of the State of Kerala, India in connection with the reform of its electricity sector;

The Government of the State of Tamil Nadu, India in connection with the BOO development of thermal power plants;

The Government of Laos in connection with the establishment of a national grid company to export electricity over high-voltage transmission lines;

The Government of Morocco in connection with the reform of electricity legislation;

The Government of Panama in connection with the reform of its electricity sector and the privatization of transmission companies.
