In an on-going commitment to significantly reduce the use of natural resources in the production of printed material, St. Joseph Print Group has been granted Forestry Stewardship Certification (FSC) for its Ottawa, Concord and Thorn (Toronto) facilities. St. Joseph is the first printer in Ontario to be granted such certification, and only the third in Canada. The FSC Program entitles its certified printers to utilize paper that has been produced from trees in FSC-designated forests, which are managed to preserve the environment, prevent wide-scale deforestation, and protect wildlife and aboriginal rights. Our clients can now request to have their work printed on FSC-approved paper, and can rest assured that respect for the environment will be embraced in the production of their printed materials.

SJPGO has recently acquired new equipment, rendering it the most technologically connected sheetfed printing operation in North America. In fact, we are currently the Beta test site for Heidelberg digital workflow and MIS packages, Prinance and Prinergy. The majority of our presses are brand new and fingerprinted to our digital workflow. Our Prepress area has been completely re-configured with the latest computer to plate (CTP) technology. The Heidelberg Topsetter has the capacity to produce 480 plates per day digitally. SJPGO also has the capacity to produce another 200 plates per day conventionally by outputting film and processing plates through our Signsetter system. We have also added the most accurate digital colour proofing device, the Kodak Approval System, to run in tandem with our CTP process.
