Services

  • Remote Sensing And Gis Consulting Services

Spectranalysis Inc. produces customized resource and environmental information by analyzing satellite data and integrates remote sensing results into GIS databases. Application examples include land cover/land use mapping and change detection; forest resource inventory; forest depletion mapping and updating; agricultural land use inventory; and geological interpretation and enhancement for exploration. International projects have included remote sensing/GIS project planning, technical support and training, and evaluation. The company has extensive consulting experience in Southeast Asia.

Products

  • At Regular Intervals, Cutovers And Burns Are Classified And Dated By Satellite Data Analysis.

Spectranalysis maps age classes of cutovers and burns through the digital analysis of current satellite data coverage.

Greater precision in age estimation can be achieved through reference to satellite images recorded in previous years.

Existing forest cover information is updated by integrating the cutovers and burns with a pre-existing land cover data base, or by combining the forest depletion data with information on forest cover in a GIS (geographic information system).

  • Environmental Products And Services
  • Resource Satellite Data Analysis Provides Comprehensive, Timely Land Cover Information.

Appropriate satellite data coverage is digitally classified by Spectranalysis to produce customized land cover themes. The resulting digital map data is integrated into a GIS database to provide the basic geographic layer for spatial analyses. Large-scale changes in land cover and land use over time can be mapped by the digital comparison of classifications based on satellite data recorded in different years.

Summaries of area coverage by theme (e. g, the total area of specific forest types) are readily produced. Hard-copy classification maps and photographic enhancements of the original satellite data can be generated. The level of detail provided is sufficient for most large-area environmental and resource analyses. This Spectranalysis method produces land cover information at a fraction of the cost of traditional methods, and in a fraction of the time.

  • Technology Implementation Plans Are Designed, And Ongoing Technical Support Is Provided.

The following activities are conducted by Spectranalysis consultants with extensive practical experience in the application of GIS and remote sensing technologies to environmental and resource management. Consultation with a wide range of local managers and professionals is critical to success at all stages.

The services provided may include any or all of the following steps:

Information systems and resources already in place in the organization are examined by Spectranalysis.

The various needs for environmental and resource information are determined.

Customized applications of GIS and remote sensing technologies are designed.

Staff capabilities and existing hardware and software resources are assessed. Implementation scenarios are formulated.

Spectranalysis will recommend an implementation plan and schedule, including equipment purchase, staff training and organizational linkages, as required.

Technical support is provided by Spectranalysis in developing and evaluating tenders and requests for proposals. Professional staff are trained in the use and application of GIS and remote sensing systems. Technical direction, supervision and troubleshooting are provided in the initial stages of implementation. Assessments of the success of the application program are also conducted by Spectranalysis.
