Solios Environement

Sectors: Procedair Industries Inc. is a major air pollution control company established in Montral since 1982 and serving the heavy industries in Canada, USA and Latin America. The company's expertise is mostly in the design and construction of acid gas scrubbing systems and hot gas particulate control for the following industries: cement plants; industrial boilers; municipal, medical and hazardous waste incinerators; primary aluminum smelters; Secondary aluminum furnaces; steel mills.

Procedair's Systems: All-dry, semi-dry and wet scrubbing systems; desulphurization with enhanced all-dry scrubbing system; dry scrubbing for potline gas, anode baking furnace and pitch fume emissions from carbon plants (world leader); evaporative spray coolers; filters with dry sorbent injection; fume filtration with TGT low pressure pulse filter; pulse jet filter (TGT, Sonair); reverse air filter for kiln gas.

Company Descriptio: Procedair Industries Inc. is a subsidiary of the French Fives-Lille Group. As such it has both the technical and financial capabilities of a large international industrial group. With the size and scope of its many contracts, Procedair Industries project management group is a highly organized unit with demonstrated performance in bringing projects to completion within the contract schedule and target budget. The company is innovative and has for example worked with the National Research Council Canada (NRCC) over the years and continues to investigate interaction of gas and spray in open spray towers and developed a novel hollow cone atomizer for this application. The company has developed specific equipment and processes applied to aluminum fume treatment and the scrubbing of acid gas such as all-dry, enhanced all-dry, semi-dry or zero water discharge. In the last twelve years, Procedair has supplied systems cleaning over 30 million CFM of polluted gas. Projects size range from simple equipment supply to turnkey projects with value up to $30 million.

Procedair's most recent projects include: 2,000,000 ACFM potline gas scrubbing systems for Alouette and Lauralco Aluminum Smelters in Qubec. All-dry scrubbing system for the new aluminum can recycling plant of Alcan in Oswego, New York. All-dry scrubbing systems for the Qubec (1,000 TPD), Peel Region-Ontario (400 TPD), Fayetteville North Carolina (600 TPD) and Prince Edward Island (100 TPD). Waste to Energy plants; fabric filter and cooling system on EAF for Hylsa Puebla steel mill in Mexico; fabric filter for a cement kiln for Lafarge in Joppa, Illinois and Paviding, Ohio; fabric filters for cement kilns at Cementos Apasco-Orizaba in Mexico and at Cementos Boyaca in Colombia.

Procedair All-dry Scrubbing Process.
Procedair Industries provides turnkey acid gas scrubbing systems for municipal solid waste, medical waste and hazardous waste incineration plants. This all-dry scrubbing process includes the cooling of the flue gas followed by the injection of lime and activated carbon in their proprietary Venturi Reactor. A Procedair fabric filter located downstream of the reactor completes the neutralization of the acid gases and separates the particles from the gas stream before discharging clean gases to atmosphere. In complement to this all-dry scrubbing process, Procedair also offers wet scrubbing systems with zero water discharge. Procedair's Scrubbing Systems are installed in over forty (40) plants worldwide. North American installations include CUQQubec (1,000 TPD), Peel Region - Ontario (400 TPD) and BCH Energy Fayetteville North Carolina (600 TPD) Waste to Energy plants, as well as Baltimore Area Medical Waste Disposal Facility (150 TPD) and Laidlaw biomedical waste incineration plant in Gatineau, Qubec.

Enhanced All-dry Scrubbing Process.
Periodic and tunnel Brick kilns release to atmosphere particulate and acid gases that need to be captured and neutralized. Procedair enhanced all-dry scrubber is a unique process that effectively captures all particulate and achieves over 90 % removal efficiency on SO2, HF and HCl. Its main benefit over wet scrubbing technology is that it produces no water discharge that would need further treatment. Gases from the kiln are first cooled before entering the enhanced all-dry scrubber where they are contacted with humidified hydrated lime in Procedair's Venturi Reactor. A fabric filter separates the particulate from the flue gases and discharges a solid waste consisting of calcium salts perfectly suitable for regular disposal. Procedair/ETS's LEC process is best used in processes without fly ash or where particulate has already been captured by an existing ESP or a fabric filter. Its main benefit is that of using limestone instead of lime as reagent which represents major savings in operating costs. Hot flue gases are contacted with a bed of limestone granules covered with a thin film of water. SO2 is absorbed from the flue gas into the water film where it subsequently reacts with dissolved limestone. A layer of reaction products forms on the limestone. Next, the reacted limestone is passed through the regeneration system and re-activated limestone is recycled back to the reactor. This system is also capable of achieving removal efficiencies over 90% on SO2, HF and HCl.

Enhanced All-dry Scrubber.
Procedair offers dry scrubbing systems capable of achieving over 95% SO2 removal efficiency. This enhanced all-dry (EAD) process uses hydrated lime as reagent. Pre-humidified lime is contacted with flue gases in Procedair's Venturi reactor which is followed by a fabric filter for particulate separation. This process is perfectly suitable for gas stream that contains also fly ash or other fine particles as it achieves particulate filtration simultaneously. EAD systems are operating effectively for various applications such as coal fired boilers, soil remediation plants, tire incinerators, etc. North American installations include Schuller, Ohio on E-Glass furnaces and Wepco, Wisconsin on lightweight aggregate pelletizing. For each process Procedair can provide turnkey systems.
