Smart Brassieres Inc. of Montreal, Canada has proudly entered
its 51st year in business. On the occasion of this important
milestone, and to reflect our diverse and growing businesses,
the company has been renamed Smart Fashion Group Inc. Smart
manufactures intimate apparel for women and children, as well
as aerobicwear and swimwear.
Privately owned since 1946, Smart recently expanded its
operations
by opening a plant in New Brunswick in 1995. In addition to its
Quebec operations in Montreal and Roxton Falls, manufacturing
space now totals over 125,000 square feet, providing an annual
production capacity of over four (4) million garments.
The company sells its branded and private label apparel in
Canada and exports to the United States, Europe, Asia and the
Middle East.
In addition, last fall, Smart launched its new lines of licensed
intimate apparel, utilizing Disney characters. The company is
the leader in styling fashion garments for fuller figure women,
and has also increased its activity behind more hip, up-to-date
styling for the youth and contemporary markets.
In 1996, Smart new product development has included the launch
of the innovative 'Le Mystre' Y bra to the North American
market. This uniquely-styled bra utilizes new 'microfiber'
technology. Leading retailers already selling the new bra
include: Neiman Marcus, Saks Fifth Avenue, Bloomindale's,
Macy's and Nordstrom's in the United States, and Holt Renfrew
and leading women's specialty stores throughout Canada.
