Sealand Aviation Ltd. maintains, overhauls, rebuilds and repairs
small aircraft, and designs and manufactures aircraft
modification kits and components. The company was founded in
1981 in Campbell River, British Columbia, to maintain the
commercial floatplanes that service the forestry and fishing
industries on the Canadian West Coast. Sealand quickly
established a reputation for reliable and efficient customer
service. Although aircraft maintenance and repair is still the
mainstay of the company, Sealand is now designing, certifying
and manufacturing modification kits for the deHavilland Beaver,
including the Cabin Extension Kit and the Alaska Door. Sealand
kits are in use worldwide. The company is currently developing
further modifications to the deHavilland Beaver.
The company is the Western Canada Distributor for Aero-Engines
Inc of Los Angeles, a company that rebuilds and sells radial
aircraft engines, parts and accessories.

Aircraft Modifications
The Cabin Extension Kit SA90-2 Config 2/NY 00094 Giving the Beaver a spacious cabin with additional and larger windows has increased the versatility and customer appeal of a great airplane. Since 1990 Sealand Aviation has been installing and shipping Cabin Extension Kits to customers around the world. We are not the only company offering a Cabin Extension Kit but we like to think that our kit is the best one available, and we know it is the easiest to install. The Alaska Door SA90-2 Config. 3 /NY 00094 Taking the Cabin Extension Kit one step further, we added a LARGE cargo door. People said it couldn't be done but there are now over 50 Beavers with the 'Alaska Door'. Our customers constantly tell us that this is the best modification ever done to a Beaver. (Our thanks to Tim at Iliamna Air Service for telling us there was a need.) Stainless Steel Elevator Trim Tab Push Rods The original deHavilland push rod, an aluminum tube with steel ends riveted in, doesn't stand up well in a salt-water environment. Our replacement is all 316 Stainless steel, including the long lasting Teflon-lined rod ends. If you need a replacement, whether you operate in salt or fresh water, this is the best way to go. Door Post Strut Assemblies. Our SAL9000 strut is more than just a replacement, it is a refinement. Fifty years of hard work in every environment on this planet showed the weaknesses so we took the time to address them all. Though not really necessary, our struts have a thicker walled tube. The tube we chose was readily available so it helped to keep the cost down as well as adding longevity. Corrosion is the cancer killing off the original struts, so we've gone to great lengths to protect our product. After welding, the struts are cadmium plated. They are then powder coated. Finally, to ensure complete coverage of the inside of the tube and end fittings, they are filled to overflowing with an anti-corrosion compound, Dinol AV30. The strut assemblies are then allowed to drain for several days to remove the excess Dinol. The lower fitting has drain holes incorporated so water cannot accumulate inside. This is the best product on the market. Tip Tanks This is a direct 'bolt on' replacement for the original tip tank. The tank is a riveted aluminum structure-easy to repair when you bump a piling. On the end is a composite Hoerner style wing tip fairing with a nav/strobe light assembly. With the change in shape of the wing tip we are looking for a slight decrease in the stall speed and /or a slight increase in performance. Wing Mod We have several modifications in the works, some of them for years. This year we should see our modified wing fly. With a slight change in airfoil and a semi-Fowler flap the performance projections offered by the computer wizards are almost unbelievable.

Repair And Overhaul Sealand rebuilds aircraft from the ground up, specializing in deHavilland Beavers and Float-equipped aircraft. We routinely refurbish and reskin tired aircraft, both large and small. Sealand employs experienced local sub-contractors to rewire aircraft and install avionics, perform ultrasonic testing, and re-upholster. We paint parts and do touch-ups and we'll use a talented local craftsman when we are painting an entire aircraft.

Rotary Wing Maintenance Sealand's Maintenance Engineers are qualified to work on Robinson Helicopters.

Service And Consulting Sealand Aviation can provide expertise and assistance in getting an aircraft modification certified by the Faa and Department of Transport. We work with an experienced team of DARs, DERs, engineers and designers. We provide information to customers worldwide. We also provide such services as aircraft appraisals and pre- purchase inspections.

Engine Maintenance Sealand Aviation is a distributor for Aero Engines of Los Angeles and maintains an invenyory of engines, cylinders and parts. We also work with Lycoming and Continental Airrcraft engines.
