Robarts Research Institute
Robarts Research Institute is a Canadian success story. Since
its inception as Canada's only privately operated and directed
medical research centre, the Institute has quickly progressed to
be a top ranked medical-research facility. Robarts has realized
major discoveries, won prestigious awards, and made vital
contributions to medical science and technology
commercialization. Currently, the Institute
employs over 500 people including 48 leading medical scientists.
The research focus includes the cardiovascular system, the
central nervous system, and the immune system, with a strong and
core of scientists in the medical imaging laboratories as well
as home to Robarts Clinical Trials, a contract research
organization with proven expertise in conducting academic grant
based and industrial multi-centered clinical trials. Robarts
also takes an entrepreneurial approach to creating value from
our intellectual assets from capturing intellectual property
to exploitation through licensing and venture formation. In
addition, sponsored research is actively pursued with third
parties where there exists a mutual interest between the Robarts
Scientist and the industrial company.
