The Information Technology Center, in the HCSSD Division, within Hughes Aircraft of Canada, provides turnkey solutions using todays state of the art technology. We are currently focusing in three major areas.
- Telehealth/Distance Education - the linking of remote areas to
major urban centers by satellite or terrestrial lines to provide healthcare and education. Hughes is able to take projects from the planning stage right through to implementation and maintenance. Hughes products are of the highest industry standards.
- Geomatics - the Geomatics Services Group has existed since
- The focus is on creating databases to be used in GIS systems.
We do however also include full GIS services as part of the department. At this point Hughes has created, and has for sale several national digital data sets for countries throughout the world.
- Software Engineering/Design - the ITC has a group of highly
trained software engineers. The most recent success was the design and implementation of the Automated Highway Toll System used on Highway 407 outside of Toronto.
