Project Management of a Large De-merger This project was undertaken for one of the successor companies to Ontario Hydro and involved managing major aspects of the transformation from a company division to a standalone corporation. Key activities included: major systems software selection; selection of external auditors, legal counsel and search firm for Board members; risk management implementation; assessment of start-up financial structure; managing transfer of assets, liabilities, intellectual property and records;

and the development of inter-company service agreements. All work was successfully completed in time to meet the legislated de-merger date.

Project Management of Implementation of SAP Financials and HR This project involved managing the implementation of SAPs Financial, Human Resources and Pay modules for a company with some 350 employees and $40million annual revenue. The modules were implemented using an accelerated methodology based on pre-configured clients. Key aspects of the project included scoping, configuration, data conversion and testing. The implementation was completed in 12 weeks - on time and under budget.

Project Management of Implementation of SAP Service Management, Mobile Service and Sales and Distribution. This 15 month project involved managing the implementation of SAPs Service Management, Sales and Distribution and Mobile Service modules. Key aspects of the project include re-engineering, change management, training, scoping, configuration, data conversion, testing and roll- out. The Mobile Service component of this project, which is part of SAPs customer relationship management (CRM) suite, made the project unique, as it was the first North American implementation.

Development of a Performance Measurement System for a Large Business Unit The organization had re-organized to more of a stand-alone basis and was to be accountable for its results. It was managing a shift from technology-based culture to a business-based culture. The project involved developing and introducing a broad based set of performance indicators for review and action by the management committee. The measures and the associated reporting format assisted the management team focus attention on key operational indicators, the status of strategic investments, and the financial viability of the business. The process provided an early warning of potential problems and facilitated co- operation among departments to achieve overall business unit targets. Bid Proposal Preparation - High Tech Company This project involved assisting a hi-tech company respond to an RFP from a large U. S. institution. The proposal, which was valued $1+ million U. S., had to be prepared in a short time frame. RMI co- ordinated the process and prepared the final proposal documentation.

    We will assist clients design and successfully implement performance measurement systems based on the best practices. For example:

    Leadership is critical in designing and deploying effective performance measurement and management systems. A conceptual framework is needed for the performance measurement and management system. Effective internal and external communications are key to successful performance measurement. Accountability for results must be clearly assigned and understood. Performance measurement systems must provide intelligence for decision makers, not just compile data. Compensation, rewards and recognition should be linked to performance measurements. Performance measurement systems should be positive, not punitive. Results and progress toward program commitments should be openly shared with employees, customers and stakeholders.
