Provincial Aerospace Ltd.

Provincial Airlines was incorporated in 1972 and has conducted aviation operations in Atlantic Canada since that time. In 1994 operations were also extended to British Columbia. Growth of operations has been steady and consistent and has resulted largely from developing innovative new services to meet customer needs. The Company now has approximately 300 employees, a fleet of over 40 aircraft, and over 150,000 square feet of hangar and support facilities.

Provincial has provided airborne maritime surveillance services for all oil exploration programs on the Grand Banks of Newfoundland since 1983. The Company developed the use of anti-submarine warfare technology for ice surveillance in 1985 to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the service it provided to support drilling operations. As exploration drilling declined, this surveillance service was successfully adapted to fisheries surveillance and pollution monitoring.

An essential part of adapting airborne surveillance to other commercial applications was the development of a software systems engineering department and an offshore technical services (ice management and environmental management) department. Provincial now operates a fleet of three special missions surveillance aircraft on Canada's East Coast flying approximately 5,000 hours per year. The service includes the provision of data management services and development of systems for data collection, interpretation, and reporting. Provincial Airlines provides contract air courier services for several of Canadas largest courier companies including Federal Express and Purolator Courier.

These contracts require rigorous adherence to schedules and the highest level of dispatch reliability. The Companys Interprovincial Division operates a scheduled airline service under a commercial agreement with Air Nova/Air Canada. Market interest: USA and Europe.

Airborne Maritime Surveillance System
The Provincial Airlines' airborne maritime surveillance system combines leading edge technology with a demonstrated track record of successful efficient, cost-effective performance. This system can take an effective strategic and tactical role to provide timely, accurate and comprehensive information which will promote effective monitoring, control and surveillance of both foreign and domestic fishing and effective enforcement of World maritime fisheries legislation. This system has been designed in an eleven (11) year evolutionary process by professionals whose collective experience includes aviation, maritime environmental and fisheries surveillance, airborne radar operations, navigation, and airborne systems integration. Each of the following major subsystems provides an important contribution to the maritime surveillance system's overall effectiveness: Beechcraft King Air 200; Airborne Data Acquisition and Management System (A.D.A.M.) System; Litton APS-504(V)5 search radar; Day and Night Identification Systems; Beech King Air 200. Proven Capability in eleven years of offshore patrol, the Provincial Airlines maritime surveillance version has been certified for a gross weight increase to 14,000 lbs. Its payload is ample to carry all necessary survey and mapping equipment and provide an efficient work environment for a crew of six. Certified for flight in known icing conditions it is more than capable of handling the worst of both extremes of world weather - it operates when required regardless of icing, freezing precipitation or for - the Super King Air 200 can be counted on for surveillance in any weather in which maritime surveillance takes place. A.D.A.M. System VI: The core of the maritime surveillance system is the Airborne Data Acquisition and Management (A.D.A.M.) System. Developed in an operational environment by Provincial Airlines experienced surveillance technicians, this data management system has an eight year track record of facilitating efficient, cost effective mission performance and the production of timely, accurate and complete patrol maps and reports. Litton APS-504(V)5: The APS-504(V)5 is designed by Litton in Toronto, Ontario, and built in Halifax, Nova Scotia and although the first production unit has been in operation since 1986, the (V)5 still provides leading edge technology. The (V)5 incorporates antisubmarine watch technology to produce excellent small target detection capability with 200 nautical mile range. It has all the essential features for a radar utilized for maritime surveillance. One of the valuable features of the (V)5 is its ability to make all flight time usable. Within minutes after takeoff it is providing surveillance data. In 5 minutes the aircraft can climb to 10,000 feet giving the (V)5 a 120nm radar range. Transit time to the task area can be put to valuable used by the crew so that full value can be obtained from all flight time.
