TriboLogik is PMC's proprietary expert system. It is the core of PMC's automated laboratory and the power behind our internet reporting technology.
An expert system is a program based on Artificial Intelligence (AI), a computer technique that uses deductive reasoning. This is accomplished by reflecting information from data and knowledge bases, logic, and accumulated human experience in a set of rules.
Based on this knowledge, PMC's expert system, TriboLogik:
- Instantaneously analyzes the results of all the tests executed on laboratory machines and instruments;
- Takes into account all previous results and available data on each machine;
- Checks the test results against manufacturer specifications and compares them to a set of data chosen from among hundreds of profiles developed for machinery of similar makes, models and metallurgy;
- Compares them with the rules specific to the machine type and to similar case histories from similar machines;
- Performs statistical analyses;
- Checks the results against the specifications of unused oil;
- Combines all these results in order to derive a conclusion;
- Interprets them in order to reach a decision on machine and lubricant condition;
- Recommends the course of action;
- Provides the logic by which it arrived at conclusions. By providing the logic behind the conclusions, TriboLogik upgrades the knowledge of the system.
