The Pulp and Paper Research Institute of Canada (Paprican) is a non-profit research and educational organization. We operate research laboratories in Pointe-Claire, Quebec, and Vancouver, British Columbia, and education and postgraduate research programs at the Pulp and Paper Research Centre at McGill University, the Pulp and Paper Centre at The University of British Columbia, and on the campus of cole Polytechnique.
The institute's sponsors are our Member Companies. The Federal Government, McGill University, The University of British Columbia, and cole Polytechnique participate as partners, and each plays a distinctive role. The operating costs of our research and educational programs are born largely by our Member Companies. The educational centres are provided and maintained by our university partners, supported by the Governments of British Columbia and Quebec.
Paprican's research program address the critical technical needs of our Member Companies. Our Strategic Plan is developed and regularly updated by our managers and the Research Program Committee (RPC). The RPC members are appointed by the Boards of Directors to represent the interests of the industry. The RPC's Subcommittees conduct quarterly audits of our research performance to ensure that we are meeting Member Company needs.
