Fish Biomonitoring Programs
We offer a service in the diagnosis of effects of pollutants on fish species. OCEANS
Ltd. can assess and monitor these effects using a range of tests and selected indicator
responses. The environmental effects monitoring techniques combine biological indicator
responses with chemical analysis.
The primary biomarkers used by the company consist of mixed-function oxygenase (MFO)
induction, histopathology of fish organs, acetylcholinesterase inhibition, and the induction of micronuclei. For example, using these techniques the company has archived a wealth of information on the health of marine life on the Canadian East Coast as base line data for environmental impact evaluation.
Site/Route-specific Weather, Sea-state And Ice Forecasting Methodologies
OCEANS Ltd.'s team of experienced meteorologists provide meteorological and oceanographic interpretation, real-time data assimilation and assessment, numerical weather prediction modelling and wave hindcasting and forecasting in a client-tailored approach on a site or route-specific basis.
The accuracy and precision of OCEANS' forecasting service maximizes the safety of personnel and assets in environmentally sensitive coastal operations such as offshore construction, heavy lifts and ocean transport thus improving planning and productivity and reducing insurance costs.
Aid To Navigation
Ocean engineering expertise includes an engineering and manufacturing group
responsible for the design and manufacture of roto-moulded plastic marine products including cautionary buoys, channel marker buoys, and buoy accessories.
All plastic products are manufactured in accordance with strict specifications for durability and colour retention. All buoys meet stringent Canadian Coast Guard (CCG) specifications for CCG Plastic Aids to Navigation.
Site/Route-specific Marine Weather, Sea State, And Ice Forecasting Services
We provide operational weather, sea state, and ice forecast services to marine sector clients. Site specific, vessel route, and other client-tailored forecasts are available for North Atlantic and adjacent marine and land regions. Highly professional and experienced meteorologists use advanced weather forecasting technology to provide accurate and timely weather and sea state information to clients managing environmentally sensitive operations.
The company's expertise includes operational support services for oil industry clients,
meteorological and oceanographic interpretation services, development of real-time data quality control and assimilation procedures, statistical assessment of numerical weather prediction (NWP) model output, and sea state forecasting.
