    Language Technology Solutions (LTS)

LTS is a business unit of Alis devoted to commercializing advanced tools and services in the field of language engineering and information technology. These solutions help you create or transform unilingual applications into software that users can put to work in their own language; over 90 languages are now covered by our technology, with the breadth of coverage and the number of languages still increasing.

Alis has divided its offering into the following three categories: FLORES, BATAM and CONSULTING/CUSTOM DEVELOPMENT

FLORES: a set of language engineering tools. It includes:

    • System for identification of language and character encoding
    • Universal character set conversion engine
    • Line breaking, hyphenation and word extraction
    • Language-sensitive sorting
    • Asian language input methods
    • Rendering of complexe language such as Arabic, Hindi, Tamil,

    Khmer, etc.

BATAM: Alis internationalization library for Windows systems. Batam offers instant and global language support to an existing Windows application. It makes the application multilingual and open, unrestricted by Windows versions, as input, character sets and display are all handled by the library. Based on Unicode, Batam will accelerate deployment even for a single localization, and the small effort invested is immediately reusable for the next localization. Its functionality can be divided into five main parts:

    • Character set conversion
    • Input functions (keyboards and input methods)
    • Processing functions (character, word and line boundaries,

    mouse selection, etc.)

    • Multilingual display functions
    • Multilingual replacements for Windows controls

Using Batam offers the following advantages:

    • Internationlization of standard 8-bit applications
    • Single source, and single binary if desired, for all

    language versions

    • Support for multiple simultaneous languages
    • Uniform text model (no multiple character sets)
    • Complete solution: fonts, keyboards and input methods

    and conversion

CONSULTING/CUSTOM DEVELOPMENT: we put our language expertise to work on your projects.
