Moore and Franklin Engineering

Moore and Franklin is a division of Moore Telephone Corporation,
which was incorporated in Ontario primarily for R and D purposes.
Derek W. Moore, P.Eng was a consulting engineerwith patents in
communications and power systems. Howard Franklin, P.Eng, who
joined the company after the retirement of Ken Gentry also has
several patents and is a recognised expert in data management.
The company was established in 1974 and now owns a new 8000
square foot plant well equipped as described in the technology
profile. In the mid-1980's, in association with Moog Music in
Buffalo, we developed one of the first featurephones, the
'Operator'. Prior to this we had developed new concepts in
diagnostic and autocorrection devices for data processing loops,
airflow measurement and control systems, using a form of balanced
transistor anemometer; voting systems for councils and
conventions; peak-seeking diathermy equipment for use with low
dose chemotherapy; advanced 'voltage decrement' nicad battery
charging developments. Some of these develokments are included
in our present product range.

Frequency Converter

Serial Data Link
Serial Data Link (S.D.L.) -exported in large volume, used to extract information from vehicular J1587 databus for use by Tachograph or other equipment . Optional post-processing, used to deliver mpg or L/100km. Remote readout available for dashboard mounting, to display selectable information. Using devices may be receive-only, which enables the SDL to be passive device which cannot harm the databus. We seek non-US representation

Serial Data Link-j1850
Serial Data Link - J1850. This device connects a tachograph to cars and light trucks built after 1995. The SDL plugs into the vehicles diagnostic connector and outputs pulses suitable for tachographs and fleet management systems. The device may be used with any vehicle using the OBD II diagnostic connector. It determines the vehicle type automaticaly when it is first connected.

World's Best Hand Drier
World's Best Hand Drier: This has been three years in development and was the immediate reason we moved into our new, large plant. It provides a large drying-space and uses high velocity air in two streams which are directed at each other and the resulting extreme turbulence is very effective for drying hands, and permits a large fraction to be drawn back and sent round again. Numerous innovative features include separate control of fan and heaters, which enable the fan to run for 2 seconds after heater shut-down, preventing temperature surge. Effective defence against vandals come from temperature limiting circuitry which limits the maximum temperature either heater can reach, and an over-riding upper temperature limit is provided by non-resettable thermal switches - the temperature limiting scheme prevents these switches operating except under extreme circumstances. We have arranged sales representation in the US and Canada but would welcome discussions about other markets, which could include local manufacture.

Telephone 'bizwiz'
Telephone 'Bizwiz': This was developed to prevent a using device from seizing a line already in use. There are competitive devices now on the market but ours works equally well with touch-tone or pulse dialling. Market now limited because of availability of cheaper but more limited devices.

Voting System
Voting System: Suitable for municipal council chambers or large company boardrooms, we have a system installed in one of the largest cities in Canada and we are bringing out a 'catalog' to enable prospective users to design their own system from the book, and use local labour to install it. Typical systems cost less than $1000 per voting member and time savings and audience interest make this a very good investment. Because of the catalog, we are not geographically limited and are looking for customers worldwide. Representatives welcome and protected.
