Company Overview

Med-Emerg International (MEI) was founded in 1983 as a provider of physician services in hospital emergency departments across southwestern Ontario. MEI also offered hospitals management consulting services, which focused on emergency services planning, and functional and operational reviews. In 1985, MEI opened its first primary care clinic in London, Ontario, with openings of other clinics in 1987 and 1992. MEI continued to increase its emergency department services to hospitals in Ontario. And soon after, began providing medical staffing services to federal government agencies including Pearson Airport, Department of National Defence and Corrections Canada.

Now in its second decade of operation, MEI is the preeminent provider of physician resources and emergency medical services in Canada. With contracts in twenty hospitals across Ontario and several in other provinces, MEI has become an innovator in the health care sector, providing cost leadership and structure in the development and implementation of solutions for emergency medical services.

In addition to providing structure for institutional health care settings throughout Canada, MEI maintains one of the largest physician data bases, enabling direct communication with physicians regardless of their location. Implementing the latest information technology available, MEI also manages one of the most efficient and knowledgeable billing services in the country.

Over the past ten years, MEI has provided health care consulting services internationally. Having completed projects in Saipan, India, Malaysia and South America, the company most recently drafted the strategic plan for the Health and Social Services Ministry in the Northwest Territories, which is now being implemented there. MEI continues to develop opportunities for international health care consulting through several partners, including Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre and McMaster University.

To facilitate and sustain future growth in the company, MEI is now in the process of completing an Initial Public Offering (IPO) on the NASDAQ Exchange. Once this is completed, MEI will be publicly listed and traded on the NASDAQ Exchange and, later, on the Toronto Stock Exchange. With the confidence of the public markets behind it, MEI will be poised for tremendous success well into the next millennium.
