The Northshore Tribal Council was created in the fall of 1991 to evaluate First Nations' needs in relation to existing Forest Management Plans and community demands on forest resources. Development of forest management plans for First Nations in the area is only one service the Northshore Tribal Council is currently offering to clients at this time. The programs are designed to enhance and conserve forests while providing economic and social benefits to the participating communities. The Northshore Tribal Council oversees a total area harvest of 51, 000 m 3 of fibre/year.
Located west of Sudbury on the northshore of Lake Huron, the Northshore Tribal Council is also involved in training and the preservation of indigenous practices, an outlook that is are reflected in their on-going activities.
The Northshore Tribal Council maintains partnerships with other indigenous communities in the United States and is also looking to expand internationally. Clients currently include other First Nations and government.
