Unique Applications:

New Full Production Size Laboratory Line - Our new facility is a new 1600 mm wide, 11 meters high, fully automatic blown coextrusion line. It incorporates four new Macro patents and four new patent applications concerning: die design, film cooling, gauge control, oscillating nips, edge guiding and roll handling. In operation since October 1997, the lab line will serve customers for trials and market seeding.

MacroPackv Coextrusion Die System - This newly developed multilayer die features simplicity and stackability with improved gauge control and incorporation of IBC. It has low residence time and low wetted surface area. These characteristics make this new die ideally suited for coextruding highly degradable and difficult to extrude material.

Model D10 Dual Lip Air Ring - Optimized design is suited for low melt strength polymers featuring improved gauge control, bubble stability, and output. A series of stackable stabilizers shield the bubble from outside air provides improved venturi to help stabilize the molten bubble.

Fully Automatic Surface and Turret Winders with Shaft Extraction - These affordable winders were developed for fully automatic operations using shaft extraction, core loading, and shaft loading in the case of surface winders. These systems completely eliminate operator handling of shaft, cores and finished rolls.

High Output Blown Film IBC with Secondary Cooling - This new system incorporates Macro's previously patented secondary cooling technology with IBC. Improvement in cooling output is on average 30% to 50%. The secondary air ring also improves gauge control and clarity.

Cast Film Technology with PP and PVdC - This process incorporates unique double encapsulation of PVdC. The process enables you to extrude polymers with much higher melt temperature, such as PP and LLDPE. This structure with sealable layer from ionomers or metalocene is ideal for form and fill, and liquid pouch applications.

PVB Extrusion - First commercially available, complete production plant for processing PVB sheet which is utilized in the automobile and construction industries. This technology features direct injection of plastisizer, embossing of sheet surface incorporated in the die, and ability to add up to 50% scrap with gauge control at 1%.

PVdC Biaxially-Oriented Extrusion - This is a commercially available production line for extrusion of PVdC by double-bubble process. This high barrier film is used in food packaging and sterilization. It features good shrinkage, even at 130C, and therefore is suitable for food sterilization. Macro has already sold 15 of these 'turn-key' lines in Asia.

ComboPackv Coextrusion Die System - Allows simple addition to a standard die to increase amount of layers from two or three to 3 - 5. This allows the customer to keep his old die and extruder and just add new layers as required.

New Grooved-Feed Extruder - For high output and low temperature, 90 mm extruder can extrude over 1, 000 lb/hr of HDPE or LLDPE or LDPE.

New Horizontal Oscillating Nips - It provides improved stability and rigidity of turning bars which allows for easy threading, and incorporates edge guide between two turning bars. This eliminates wandering of the film in the oscillator and therefore prevents wrinkling caused by web wandering. In most cases, no edge is needed downstream.

Success Stories:

During our growth we have made many breakthroughs in plastic processing technology. For example, some of our recent achievements include:

  • In 1992 we built the first commercial single-

layer biaxially oriented PVdC film for use in the food packaging industry.

  • In 1994 we designed and constructed the first

commercial line in the world to produce PVB sheets for use in the automobile and building industries.

  • In 1996 we developed the first PVdC extrusion

coating line to produce blister packaging film for the pharmaceutical industry.

  • Recently we developed the first commercial

PVdC coextrusion blown film line for use in the food packaging industry.
