Products
Metal Fabricated Basic Products
Chargers, Battery, Industrial
MTI's SCR chargers have been successfully deployed in Canada,
the USA and internationally for more than ten years. The units
are offered in output voltages ranging from 12-600 VDC
and current in the 3-600 Amp range.
Nickel Cadmium (pocket Plate) Batteries
MTI's Translucent and Clear Case Nickel Cadmium products offer
several advantages:
1. Robust clear case for ease of inspection and maintenance.
2. Superior insulation and resistance to vibration ans shock
with the added U-Clip separators at the bottom of the plates.
3. Consistent superior performance under extreme conditions.
4. Expanded electrolyte reservoir for extended water topping
intervals.
5. 20-30 year life based on field experience.
6. High cycling capabilitiy (2,500-3,000 cycles)before its
capacity drops to 70% of the nominal or initial level.
Excellent low-temperature characteristic:
7. Excellent performance even at a very low operating
temperature. At -20C, for example, our Nickel Cadmium battery
maintains a useful capacity averaging 90% (most efficient HDV
Type) or 80% (medium-rate type) of the nominal capacity
8. Lowest Self-discharge of all commercial storage batteries, our
Nickel Cadmium battery offers the lowest Self-discharge.
Generally, the Self-discharge rate of a cell is in inverse
proportion to its internal resistance. The charge retention of
the Honda alkaline batteries, after 6 months at 25C is 85% with
the long-rate type (HDS Type), 80% with the medium-rate type (HDM
Type), and 70% even with the very high-rate type (HDV Type) and
the high-rate type (HDH Type).
9. No Corrosive Gases. Our Nickel cadmium battery generates no
corrosive fumes, and can be installed near delicate electrical
equipment.
When you are selecting a battery or stand-by power system, you
should carefully consider various performance requirements and
the conditions under which it is expected to be used. Most
important are the following four factors:
1. How much current is needed?
2. How long must the battery support the load for?
3. What is the permissible end voltage?
4. What is the minimum temperature?
Our experts will help you select the right type of Nickel Cadmium
Alkaline Battery and stand-by and other power supply systems
incorporating alkaline batteries that will best meet your
requirements.

Fully Recyclable Lead Acid Batteries
Conforms to the European E.C. 1992 Directive on
Dangerous Substances
MTI's SPACELL Type battery come in robust cases and
reinforced with ribs for added strength and stackability.
The cells use lead tin alloy in the positive grid and thus is
suitable for both float and cyclic applications. The thick
positive grids have low self discharge, high charge efficiency
and excellent recovery from deep cycling.
The cells are offered in 12 V Blocks (40-150 AH) and
in 2 V blocks in 300 - 3000 AH.
MTI's Lead Acid range also includes high performance tubular and
flat plate vented type batteries in capacities to 3500 AH.
Scr Industrial Battery Chargers
TYPICAL APPLICATIONS:
Switchgear: MTI's DC systems offer optimum protection to
process industries, power generating and substations.
Process Control: For the equipment that must continue to operate
with interruption
Emergency Lighting: For emergency lighting systems, a power
contactor is activated to connect the unit to the load, so that
if the main lighting fails the emergency lighting comes on
automatically.
Telecommunications: MTI's DC systems provide voltage stability
and low noise ripple. This is essential for telecommunications
equipment.
Engine Starting Batteries: MTI's Chargers maintain the
batteries in a fully charged condition to provide reliable
instantaneous engine staring power.
ADVANTAGES:
Complete Range: MTI's Chargers outputs cover the complete Range
of 12 - 600 VDC and 3 - 600 Amps.
High Quality: MTI's Chargers and components conform to
applicable IEC and other recognized standards.
Automatic Operation: Each charger incorporates maximum
reliability and inherent current limiting capabilities
Minimal Maintenance: Reconfirmed with low component count,
proven design and high reliability components
Versatility: MTI's Chargers are adaptable to a wide range of
applications: Telecommunications, utilities, petrochemical air
traffic control and others.
DC SYSTEM:
MTI's DC System consists of one or more chargers operating in
parallel with a battery bank to supply power to a constant or
varying load. In floating conditions, the battery bank will be
automatically recharged following any AC power failure.
MTI's Charges may be paralleled with interconnections. They can
also be paralleled with chargers of other makers.
PARALLEL REDUNDANT SYSTEM
MTI's Dual Charger Systems provide 100% standby capability. Two
circuits, each comprising one battery and one charger, are
connected to a common bus bar and can operate independently or in
parallel. One circuit can be float charged with the other,
isolated with an interconnector switch, is placed in a high
rate/equalize mode.
An interlocking device precludes both systems from a high rate
charge at the same time. When the battery in the first circuit
has been fully charged, it is then connected to a float charge
condition. The second circuit will be disconnected from the bus
and switched to high rate position. A blocking diode prevents
disturbances from a charger to another.
