MPI Drilling
MPI Drilling is a manufacturer of sonic vibratory drilling equipment. MPI Drilling also provides contract drilling services throughout North America in the fields of: agricultural soil sampling, mineral exploration, and environmental soil and water samples on land and in marine environments.
Recent projects have included 20 ft. bottom samples through 60 ft. of water for ABB Environmental on the Massachusetts Military Reserve at Cape Cod, bottom sampling on the St. Mary's River at Sault Ste. Marie to retrieve pulp sediment samples for Environment Canada, and a 500 hole project for Bitterroot Resources in Arizona on a mineral deposit.
Recent equipment purchasers include: the U.S. Army Corp. of Engineers at Baltimore, Maryland; Los Alamos National Laboratory at Los Alamos, New Mexico; Gregg Drilling, California; and Andres Drilling, Alaska.
The contract drilling crew have completed the 40 hours Hazardous Materials Work site course, and maintain their certificates with annual 8 hour courses.
MPI Drilling currently markets its products and services in Canada, the United States, Mexico, South America and Africa and is interested in developing joint ventures or alliances in these and any other country.

Meta-drill.
The META-DRILL is a 13 HP, gasoline powered, hydraulically operated sonic/vibratory core sampler that produces undisturbed core samples to depths of 30 ft. and in diameters up to 4'. The drill is modular in design and people-portable, and operates equally well for land based or marine bottom sampling. The chief advantages of the META-DRILL are that it produces no cuttings or spoils when sampling; it is readily movable on a trailer or in modules to access remote or difficult areas; and it is low in cost.
The Sonic Meta-drill And The Sonic Meta-probe.
The Sonic Meta-Drill and Sonic Meta-Probe are high frequency sonic or vibratory drills that sample material by vibrating a hollow sample tube into the material to the required depth. No drilling fluid or other material is used, as only the vibration is needed to permit the sample tube to move down over the material to be sampled. This ensures that the sample is not contaminated and that the complete sample is captured. Once at the required depth, the sample tubes are pulled back in 5 foot lengths and laid out for inspection, packaging, or disposal as required.
The Meta-Drill is a 13 hp. gasoline powered, hydraulically operated, modularly constructed unit that can be moved in modular pieces by a crew of two people. It is ideally suited to remote or difficult access locations, as it can be transported by helicopter, small plane, boat, quadrunner, etc.
Samples up to about 4 inches in diameter are common, and sample depths of over 30 feet in materials with blow counts of upto 60 per foot are readily handled.
The Meta-Drill can be mounted on a trailer or on the back of a small pickup and can be set up on its own stand-alone frame for remote or inaccessible drilling.
A rotary head capable of operating conventional rotary equipment such as small augers, concrete hole saws is also available for the drill.
The chain driven mast has a pull back force of 6,000 pounds and a push down force of up to 6,000 pounds, depending on the weight applied. The centrifugal force of the vibrator is 8,000 pounds at full operating speed.
The Meta-Probe is a 30 hp. gasoline powered, hydraulically operated unit that is mounted on a trailer or small pickup truck for operation.
It is a twin rotor unit, having two counter rotating vibrators that give it significantly greater performance than the single rotor Meta-Drill. The push down and pull back forces are increased to 12,000 pounds and the centrifugal force of the vibrators is 16,000 pounds.
Sample depths achievable are well over 80 feet and are dependent on site conditions. Sample diameters up to 4 inches are routine, with larger diameters being available.
A rotary head is also available with this unit enabling it to operate conventional augers, hole saws, etc.
The Meta-Probe comes equipped with a full hydraulic package of outriggers, rod clamp, extendable mast and off hole slide. Available options include tropical oil cooler, winch, additional rod storage racks and tool boxes.
Another great advantage of this method of sampling is that there are no spoils or cuttings created which may require costly disposal procedures. Only the samples are brought up.
