Established in 1980 as the first Canadian wild mushroom company, Mo-Na Food Enterprises, specializes in the harvesting and processing of Canadian wild mushrooms and berries. Currently marketing twenty basic types of wild mushrooms and mushroom products in various forms, Mo-Na looks to expand its current operations as well as develop other natural and gourmet food products maximizing the resources of Western Canada.
In Mo-Na's three warehouses and several mobile units, the freshly harvested mushrooms are graded, cleaned and then quickly packaged for export, or top quality dried mushrooms are produced and inventoried for availability of Mo-Na products year round.
CURRENT GEOGRAPHIC MARKETING ACTIVITY
Besides supplying the domestic market with its products, Mo-Na has established markets throughout Europe, Asia and the United States. For these efforts, Mo-Na received the prestigious 'Export Achievement Award' in 1983.
Mo-Na has strived since its inception to develop its markets nationally and globally wherever the demand exists. This has been done through contacts derived by attending international trade shows, food fairs and culinary exhibitions. Mo-Na compiled a large database of customers through these various marketing opportunities.
GEOGRAPHIC MARKETING PRIORITIES/MARKETING STRATEGY
The demand for wild mushrooms worldwide increases continually. Primarily, the demand is directed toward products that are grown in clean unpolluted forests and are prepared and distributed without the use of chemicals. Canada, with its immense tracts of unspoiled forests and high quality water supplies presents ideal conditions for production and expansion of wild mushroom industry which Mo-Na Food Enterprises has pioneered.
