Because doing business in an unfamiliar country or region of the world can be fraught with challenges, ITAP Canada has designed a training probram to help employees conduct international business transactions. 'Doing Business Internationally' provides practical information about interacting with foreign professionas in business settings and explores the impact of culture and values on management, work and communication. The training program focusses on one particular country or region of interest to our clients. This one or two day workshop includes a simulation of problems arising in cross-cultural situations, videos and practical exercises.
Since expatriates are responsible for representing their company's best interests, successful international relocation is key to the success of a company's global operations. Because of the high failure rates observed in foreign assignments, ITAP Canada has designed training programs that prepare expatriates and their families for the most crucial phases, their departure and their return. These programs are offered both to Canadian expatriates and foreign employees relocating to Canada:
Living in Country X explores how the employees and their families can adjust to the way of life in the destination country Working in Country X trains employees (and their spouses, if applicable) in the skills needed to adjust faster to a new position in a new country. Working Spouse helps expatrates' spouses who plan on working in their destination country adjust to the situation. Children addresses the needs of children aged 7 to 12, providing them with their own training manual and global games.
Returning home is often more difficult than making the initial adjustment to a new culture. Therefore, ITAP Canada has designed two programs to alleviate 'return shock'. These one day programs ease family adjustment into their old, and at the same time, new country by focusing on the changes that have taken place during their time away. Returning to Live in Canada focuses on lifestyle changes. Returning to Work in Canada focuses on changes in the workplace.
Canadian corporations are deeply affected by the recent arrival of many skilled immigrants in Canada and the rapid change in their workd force demographics. To help companies overcome the challenges of internal cultural diversity and reap the corresponding benefits, ITAP Canada has designed training programs that address various aspects of corporate diversity. These include:
Interviewing New Canadians: Overcoming Cultural Barriers to Skills Identification Managing a Culturally Diverse Workforce Working in A Culturally Diverse Company Effective Communication Skills Training to Help Bridge Cultural Differences is an individual coaching program designed to help New Canadians understand the main features of the work, communication and management style preferences of Canadians.
An airline carry-on bag packed with focused information on culture, business climate, traveler tips on safety and health risk factors for specific country, city or region destinations. Combined with the Culture in the Workplace Questionnaire (TM) the KIT (TM) is a cost effective and convenient way for employees to prepare for short international trips to unfamiliar destinations.
