Lussier Log Homes Ltd. Has been supplying quality log structures and finished homes since 1981. Based in Terrace British Columbia, we are near the source of excellent logs, we selectively harvest. Hemlock, fur, spruce, pine or cedar can be used to build your fine home.
After crafting in our prefab site here in Terrace, the basic structure can be dismantled and shipped anywhere. We will quickly re-assemble it at your site. You can contract with us to finish your home, to any stage of completion. We usually take four to six weeks to build your log structure. Building with logs costs approximately 5% more than conventional custom frame houses, depending on your taste.
Why should you consider a log home?
Log homes will last an average of 500 years if built properly and look after the foundation and roof.
Wood is a natural insulator
Look at a piece of wood under a microscope and you will see that it's made up or thousands of hallow cells. These natural building blocks are formed from tiny cellulose fibres. These fibres and the cells they form are cemented together by a natural glue called lignin. No other building material has this natural insulation quality. A log has the ability to absorb heat. The bigger or more massive it is, the longer it takes to exhaust its stored heat. Tests conducted at Arizona State University show that log houses use 23% less fuel that masonry houses during winter and 30.2% less energy during air conditioning season.
Wood is also a valuable acoustical material. It can reflect or absorb sound waves and is used extensively in churches, auditoriums and schools for sound control.
