Les Cuirs fins de la Mer Inc. is a small enterprise that transforms different fish skins (such has codfish, salmon, turbot, plaice, haddock, halibut, eel, etc.) into a high quality leather and creates different utility objects which consist in maroquinerie, various decorations and jewelry. The leathers are also used for different art accessories. These leathers are often compared to snake leathers. Their fine texture, their flexibility and their proven resistance have impressed our customers.

Les Cuirs fins de la Mer Inc. offers a unique product made in Quebec. This enterprise fabricates high quality products from a natural ressource that was traditionnally considered as waste. These products are also very original, typical and well adapted to caracteristics of the Gaspe Peninsula region and represent a previous value related to the regional handicraft. This business has also a strong ecological characteristic considering that it permits the recycling of a resource which was pratically considered unusable.

The principal market for the products is related to tourism. For instance, each year from spring to autumn, the products are offered in over thirty shops in the province of Quebec and thousands of tourists bring them back home in different parts of the world. Many municipalities, companies and other organizations offer them as gifts to political representants. Different actions are taken to accentuate the exportations towards France and the U. S. A.
