LandMapper Environmental Solutions Inc.
LandMapper Environmental Solutions Inc. evolved from a non
incorporated entity of the same name that began doing business
in 1994. LandMapper's products and services are based on the
more than 30 years of experience of its principal, Dr. R. A.
(Bob) MacMillan. This experience includes more than 10 years
as a field soil surveyor, almost 20 years as a practitioner and
innovator in geographic information systems and geospatial
analysis and more than 10 years of experience as an
environmental modeller, specializing in analysis of digital
elevation data for natural resource ane environmental
applications. Dr. MacMillan has played a leading role in
developing and commercializing modeling applications that make
use of analysis of digital elevation data to create maps and
models of natural environments, including landforms, soils,
ecological and hydrological spatial entities.

Weppmapr
WeppMapR is a component of the LandMapR computer toolkit that
is used to automatically extract hydrological flow patterns and
hydrological topology from gridded digital elevation models
(DEMs). WeppMapR was originally created to automatically
extract the hydrological spatial entities required by the WEPP
water erosion prediction model. The output from the program
can be generalized to automatically recognize hydrological
spatial entities that are not specific to the WEPP model.
Basicallly, WeppMapR automatically computes flow networks and
identifies simulated stream channels which are then partitioned
into defined segments of stream channels. The program computes
the upland watershed that contributes flow into each defined
segment of each simulated stream channel and identifies whether
the upland area flows into the channel segment from the left,
right or top of the channel. This information on hydrolgical
flow topology is stored on database tables and can be easily
manipulated to create data files for use in hydrological
simulation models. The WeppMapR program is being generalized
to provide capabilities for automatically extracting a wide
variety of hydrological spatial entities including those
required by the ArcGIS Hydro spatial data model, TOPMODEL, SWAT
and other hydrological models in addition to WEPP. LandMapper
Envirommental Solutions does not sell or support the WeppMapR
program but only uses it as an in-house resource for providing
custom services in hydrological mapping and modeling.
