Company Overview
This society exist since 1920. It was the Thriault family's company during 3 generations from 1920 to 1997. Gilles D'Amours and Sylvie Pelletier bought the company the 1st of January 1998. Now, the company is a manufacturer of workers clothes (safety pants for chain saw operators, rainsuits, wool jackets). The company spined wool from 1920 to 1965 therefrom the origins of the company's name.
La Filature de l'Isle-Verte has customers in the 10 Canadian provinces and in some of the United States, we have about 400 customers (security shops, worker shops, forestry coops) and about 10 distributors. We have a 1999 contract to manufacture rainsuits for the "Sret du Qubec" and Quebec government.
On June 11th 1998, the company received the B. N. Q. safety certification for the 1923-450-M91 standards for safety pants for chain saw workers. Some weeks later, Underwriters Laboratories (U. L. recognized the same norms for the U. S. A. territory.
La Filature de l'Isle-Verte won the "Production Company" award from the chamber of commerce of Rivire-du-Loup in November 1998, we also won that same award, in May 1999, from the chamber of commerce of Rimouski for "Bas Saint-Laurent" region.
The production capacity is high with 28 industrial sewing machines and one cutting table with electric knife. So we are able to sew and assemble all textiles, assure quality control, ship and execute many other tasks linked to our operations.
The company employ's 24 dressmakers, one controller, one forewoman, one shipper and one cutter.
The company is administered by Mr. Gilles D'Amours (president) and Mrs. Sylvie Pelletier (vice-president).
