Max-evap Atmospheric Evaporator And Pulse Spray Counterflow Rinsing
In most plating plants, drag-out constitutes the single, greatest expense with regards to chemical consumption and waste-treatment costs. Most plating companies today employ a drag-out tank after the plating tank in an attempt to recover as many chemicals as possible but, while certainly worth while, a drag-out tank normally falls far short of achieving total recovery.
In order to 'close the loop' by returning all of the dragged-out chemicals to the plating bath, the simplest approach is to have enough evaporation from the plating bath to equal the amount of water being used for rinsing. However, it is very unusual for this to be a normal situation in a typical plating line. The answer is quite simple - increase the rate of evaporation from the plating tank and/or reduce the amount of water being used for rinsing. The MAX-EVAP and the Pulse Spray Counterflow Rinsing - Maxi-Spray systems let a company accomplish both increased evaporation and reduced rinsewater water requirements.
The MAX-EVAP Atmospheric Evaporator dramatically increases the normal rate of evaporation from a process solution to create 'headroom' in the plating bath which can then be made up from the drag-out tank, thereby returning the dragged out chemicals to the plating bath.
To 'close the loop' a Pulse Spray Counterflow Rinsing - Maxi-Spray technique is utilized. The technique is low-cost, air-operated pump and spray assembly to counterflow rinsewater (with its dragged-out chemicals) back to the plating tank. The Maxi-Spray air pump is activated as the work bar or rack starts its 'up cycle' from the previous tank and sprays only until the top of the 'up cycle' is reached. At this point spraying is stopped until the next lift cycle of the bar or rack. Spraying is carried out only on the 'up cycle'. Chemicals are therefore retained in their respective tanks and drag-out from one tank to the next is significantly reduced. Therefore, if less chemical is being dragged-out, less water is required to maintain the same quality of rinsing in subsequent tanks.
The MAX-EVAP Atmospheric Evaporator and Pulse Spray Counterflow Rinsing offer 100% recycling of dragged-out process chemicals, reduced water consumption and lower waste-treatment requirements.
