Since the rollout of TMW Systems in July, 2000, our Information Technology Department has been fine-tuning departmental processes supported by the software and adding on modules such as Fleet Commander, the integrated satellite technology for live monitoring of trucks, Shoplink and E-Link.
Shoplink, a maintenance facility package, will provide us a cost-efficient method of maintaining our fleet as well as the ability to report on running costs of each truck on a timely basis.
E-Link will allow customers the convenience and added sense of security of tracking their own loads on the Internet.
Further, in support of sound decision-making and pro- active management, numerous custom reports have been developed with respect to invoices, outstanding revenue, WIP, sales, customers, drivers, routes, fuel, etc.
Rolled out in conjunction with TMW, the accounting package, Great Plains Dynamics has resulted in the writing of in- house fuel integration scripts. These fuel integration scripts, which are unique in design in North America, allow us to electronically import our fuel and detailed information on the fuel purchases into the general ledger. The benefit of the precedent setting process is our ability to now reconcile fuel purchases with ease with the additional knowledge that the process is in place for the existing fleet, one double or ten times its size.
As a direct result of our industry leading utilization of satellite technology, state-of-the-art software implementation and resulting processes, we have been able to experience substantial cost saving benefits with respect to messaging over the past year. Now with 100 percent of trucks equipped with satellite technology, as opposed to less than 50 percent in 2000, and messaging increasing, we are incurring messaging costs of approximately 15 percent less per truck. s, we have been able to experience substantial cost saving benefits with respect to messaging over the past year.
