We use Solidworks, IronCAD and Rhino to ensure that we can engineer products to our clients' exact needs. Our in-house 3D Printer allows easy verification of 3D data in a physical form before moving forward with tooling.
JDi offers a full product visualization service for engineering, development or marketing needs. Virtual reality animations can easily be created to help review designs early in the development process. Photo realistic images can created to support marketing campaigns before production even commences.
In the early stages of any product development project we recommend that a phase of research is undertaken. This has two aims. Firstly we like to audit and evaluate all the competitor products and define the product landscape as this can help focus the development programme correctly. Secondly we try to interview typical users to assess and understand what they really need and create new USPs
We specialize in preparing designs for economical manufacture and have an expert knowledge in a variety of plastic and steel production/ fabrication processes. Our engineering materials database is extensive. Design for assembly; design for disassembly; design for the environment.
It is important that products are designed and engineered to take into account the needs of the end-user. We apply sound anthropometric and human factors principles to the design work that we undertake. Increased product safety and usability can often help ensure commercial success
We work across a variety of sectors which gives us a good understanding of market trends. We ensure that products are designed and engineered in a manner appropriate to the markets at which they are aimed. Product styling can contribute significantly to a company's Brand presence in the market place. Product design identity important to build customer loyalty.
We have relevant mechanical design and development experience and can help turn fanciful mechanical concepts into realistic, manufacturable, rugged mechanisms and assemblies. Verification can be conducted through the building and testing of working rigs and computer tools like FEA. Risk analysis tools like FMEA help us to identify risk early in the design process. We are experts in injection moulding and sheet metal fabrication and production.
We are packaging specialists and can offer expert advice on all the elements of product packaging design. Cost, shipping volume, recycling, safety, environmental impact, communication, POP display and user interaction are just some of the factors that need to be considered. We are familiar with a variety of pulp and plastic packaging materials and processes. Intelligent icons and instructional graphics also contribute to successful packaging design.
JDi Design can help businesses in the early stages of their product development planning to choose a process appropriate for their financial circumstances, scalable for future growth and marketable to the intended end- customers. We have a good understanding of the economics of product development and can give insight into potential pitfalls that need to be considered before embarking on a set course. We use our broad experience and understanding to limit the risk to our clients and help them ensure product success.
JDi Design are the only product development consultancy in BC to have an in-house 3D printer. This enables us in a matter of hours to quickly grow and evaluate physical representations of clients' 3D CAD data. Where necessary we can easily fabricate test rigs and proof-of-principle models necessary to verify mechanisms and ensure that decisions are evidence-based.
Good user interface design is critical to ensuring that a physical or software interface satisfactorily meets the needs of the end-users. We can help assess, rationalize and streamline website and software interfaces. JDi Design has a track record of developing a number of rich, distinctive and award-winning interface designs. Our creative team uses quantitative research to ensure that interfaces are intuitive and intelligent. Good icon design can also help contribute to the overall success of a interface design.
JDi Design have designed or contributed to a number of successful websites. We can help plan and implement designs from concept to hosting. A full graphic design support service is also available.
