Ntcl
NTCL is a pan-Arctic marine operator, providing cost-effective,
reliable and comprehensive marine transportation and related
services throughout Northern Canada and the Arctic. It is a
principal transportation link for the movement of bulk
petroleum products and dry cargo to many communities, oil and
gas exploration sites and defense installations across the
North.
By northern Canadian standards, NTCL is a very long established
company. It has provided marine services throughout the
Mackenzie River Watershed since 1934 and along the Western
Arctic coast and islands since 1957. Arctic service was
extended to Alaska in 1963, when the Company was the first to
transport a drill rig by barge to Alaskas North Slope. On-
shore technical and fabrication services are available at
NTCLs shipyard facility.
In 1987, NTCL established a marshalling and packaging service
out of Montreal, which is operated through its subsidiary,
NorTran Inc. Eastern operations also include two supply
vessels serving the offshore resource industry off Canadas
east coast. And most recently, eastern operations were
expanded to include contract work within the Great Lake through
the Companys subsidiary, NT Husky.
NTCL expanded its freight services in late 2002 with a new
division, NT Global, which offers international freight
forwarding services and logistics management and consulting.
