International Centre for Sustainable Cities
The International Centre for Sustainable Cities (ICSC) is a
Vancouver-based, non-governmental, non-profit organization. Its
mission is to promote sustainable urban
development around the world through demonstration projects
using Canadian experience and technologies. ICSC focuses on
waste management and treatment,
capacity building (participatory planning and governance),
pollution prevention and abatement, sustainable housing, land
use planning, transportation, urban agro-
forestry, community education and the involvement of civil
society groups.

Assessment And Development Of Action Plans
We will assist in defining the problems, developing solutions, making action plans, including tangible demonstration projects, and securing funding. ICSC draws upon a range of tools to reach the best available answer. These tools include: appropriate technology; local knowledge; economic and fiscal instruments; policy, standards and regulations; education, training and communications.
We currently have projects in Canada (Vancouver region), Thailand (Hat Yai, Phuket and Udon Thani), the Philippines (Iloilo and Bacolod), Indonesia (South Sulawesi), Poland - Katowice Region (Zabrze and Bytom), and China (Changzhou, Qingdao).
