ntelligence Factor Systems specializes in Artificial
Intelligence based systems to provide enhanced human-machine
interfaces for different applications ranging from Security &
Authentication to Enhanced e-leaning systems, from interactive
help systems to health-care. Our product INDIGO is
an 'intelligent interface' enabler into information systems. It
provides a wide range of sensory interfaces into data systems
and applications, and employees case-based-reasoning (CBR) to
allow its users interactively zero down to the information
needed. Its features are:
*Improved Human-Computer Interface: This sub-element
supports work in a broad range of technologies and their
integration to allow humans and computers to interact
effectively, efficiently, and naturally. INDIGO employs many
kinds of human-machine interfaces such as Voice recognition,
Text-to-speech, multi-media, e-mail in addition to the
traditional browser-based or other systems such as CD-ROMs.
This reduces the problem of users having to lug around bulky
equipment such as laptops or even palmtops. They can access
information interactively in an instant, using anything from an
ordinary cellphone to a Police wireless system.
*Heterogeneous Database Interfaces: This sub-element
supports methodologies to integrate heterogeneously structured
databases composed of multi-formatted data. To support
universal information dissemination, INDIGO relies on AIML
(Artificial Intelligence Markup Language) an offshoot of XML
(Extensible Markup Language) which has come to be accepted as
the universal language of data transfer across heterogeneous
platforms and systems. Using AIML a user will be able to issue
a query to be broadcast to the appropriate databases and a
timely response can then be returned and translated into the
context of the user's query. Multi-formatted data may range
from ASCII text to numerical time series, to multi-dimensional
measurements, to time series of digital imagery, etc. Also of
critical importance is the integration of metadata with the
data and its accessibility across heterogeneous databases.
*User-centered Design Tools/Systems: This sub-element
consists of work in models and methodologies leading to
interactive tools and software systems for design and other
user-centered activities. Indigo's emphasis is on the
development of ubiquitous, easy-to-use, and highly effective
interactive tools. It effectively lets the user take charge of
the interaction, and lets him/her interactively drill-down to
the level of detail necessary.
*Virtual-Reality, Augmented-Reality and Telepresence:
This sub-element supports tools and methods for creating
synthetic (virtual) environments to allow real-time,
interactive human participation in the computing and
communication loop. Such interaction may be through sensors,
effectors, and other computational resources. For example,
INDIGO through its support of multi-sensory interfaces can
provide a virtual classroom environment without the presence of
an instructor or teacher, or replay a human-conducted
situation several times.
*Self-Learning and Self-aware Technology: Most
significantly, INDIGO is self-learning i.e. it learns not
just from the aggregation of information fed into it, but it
also seeks to refine the information based on interactions with
other users. So its efficiency gets better and better, its
responses sharper and sharper, as its usage increases. It
employs sophisticated heuristics to refine its pattern-
response combinations, with each interaction.
