ICAM Technologies Corporation is a privately owned company with headquarters in Montreal, Canada. Founded in 1971, ICAM started as a service organization focused primarily on NC Programming and other related consulting services for the aerospace industry. As the market and demand grew for post-processing software, an in-house research and development department was added.
Based on APT technology, ICAM began creating and developing stronger, and even more sophisticated products to meet the needs of its growing client base. The first commercial version of ICAM's post-processor development tool CAM-POST was released in 1983. It supported the most common machine controls, including full five-axis machines. As the demand for NC Post-processing technology increased, ICAM invested heavily in research and development, which generated innovative features such as a powerful macro language and support for Multi-axis lathes in 1987. In 1991, a revolutionary motion post-processor was incorporated, and support for Mill/Turn centers, Wire EDM, and Punch Presses were added to CAM- POST, which was quickly becoming the standard post processing solution for the largest manufacturers around the world. In 1993, the windows-like environment took shape with such additions as full mouse support, multi-language support, and a large library of basic post-processors. ICAM created and developed ARC fitting, various CAD/CAM interface kits, on-line documentation and support for the Windows environment. More recently, ICAM introduced an entirely new NC post development concept tool called Rapid Macro Development (RMD). In addition, ICAM has also introduced a High Speed Machining functionality, DMIS support, and three-dimensional cutter compensation.
CAM-POST Version 11.0 released in 1997 incorporated an entirely new window front-end, which made it easier to use both the GENER and QUEST features, which allow the user to actually create his own post processing solution.
CAM-POST 2000 released in Y2K introduced a powerful graphical user interface tool called The Wizard, which allows users with all levels of expertise to create an unlimited number of NC Post- processors in record time.
2001 marked the release of CAM-POST 2001. CAM-POST 2001 introduced of a fully automated Coordinate Frame Transformation feature, which enables the use of 2 D cycles and controller feature on canted surfaces.
Virtual Machine released in 2002 unites ICAM's advanced NC Post- Processing software CAM-POST with graphical machine tool simulation to create a single integrated solution... Graphic NC Post-Processing. ICAM's success can also be attributed to the company's focus on customer service and support. Where and when a client has had special needs, ICAM has always positioned the challenge as an opportunity to develop new solutions, thus staying ahead of shifts in the market. ICAM remains committed to working with both Machine Tool and Control manufacturers, and CAD/CAM companies to develop new leading edge products and ISO standards whenever possible.
ICAM Technologies Corporation will always keep its growing suite of products and services ahead of the market.

Virtual Machine unites ICAM's advanced NC Post-Processing software CAM-POST with graphical machine tool simulation to create a single integrated solution.
Virtual Machine is a revolutionary new product that enables manufacturers to post-process and simulate NC machining at the same time and within the same product. The integration of these two technologies allows for a block-to-block detection and repair of problem areas such as collisions and over-travels. This in turn, limits the need for live testing on the machine tool, saving material, time and money.
Benefits of Virtual Machine
Better NC Tape in Shorter Time: Because of the tight integration between Virtual Machine and CAM-POST, generated NC programs can be post-processed, verified and corrected on the fly.
Short Learning Curve: Virtual Machine is integrated with the CAM- POST user interface, eliminating the need to learn two different products or applications, and in addition there is no need to learn a new CAD system, simply import geometry from your preferred one.
Cost Effective Post-Processor and Machine Model Development:
Virtual Machine works with new and existing ICAM post- processors, whether they are ICAM dedicated posts or post- processors developed with CAM-POST. Furthermore, the machine tool and controller data for both Virtual Machine and CAM-POST are stored and managed in the same database. This eliminates the error-prone and time-consuming alternative of entering the same machine and control data twice when using a non-integrated solution.
Cost Effective NC Tape Proving: Virtual Machine detects and corrects collisions during post-processing and before the part is actually manufactured. Virtual Machine detects errors between all machine and part components: heads, turrets, spindle, tool shanks, tool changers, rotary tables, axis slides, clamps, fixtures, and many other user-defined objects. This process avoids machine tool collisions and will validate machining process without having to stop production on the shop floor for dry runs, reducing scrap material and saving on tool replacement costs while increasing machining time utilization on the shop floor and improving the quality of parts and time to market.
Machine Tool Motion Inspection: Virtual Machine can be synchronized with the CAM-POST interface at any collision or over-travel error, to graphically examine the part program and tape output at the point where the problem occurred. With this powerful tool, errors that could damage the part, the tools, the fixture and the NC machine can be eliminated.
Training Tool: With its well thought out user interface, Virtual Machine is an efficient, safe and inexpensive training tool. It allows NC programmers and machine operators to learn about their machine tools and test their NC programs off-line, in a safe environment, while graphically visualizing the machining sequence along with the corresponding CL and program file.
State-of-the-Art: Virtual Machine uniquely provides a realistic graphic simulation of the machining process during NC post- processing.
'Creating Complex Posts, Faster And Error-Free'
'In keeping with Kohler's long history of quality, it was critical we have posts developed to accommodate our advanced machining practices. ICAM not only met our challenge, they exceeded our expectations.' 'ICAM provided Kohler with an extremely talented Engineer, without whom, we would have continued to make edits after posting. ICAM's CAM-POST is so flexible that together we were able to create highly adaptive posts for our CNC machines. Today we post and forget about it.'
Tracey Rohde, Project Manager Kohler Global Faucets Division

'We have had ICAM's post-processor since 1996 and in all these years we have received great technical support as well as an excellent product.'
'Our post-processor was designed to cover a broad range of CAD/CAM software at Nemak, such as UG, CATIA, I-DEAS, Cadds5 and Pro-E and it does this very, very well and very fast.'
'The objective of our CAM department is to provide fast solutions to modifications and repairs of tooling, and by using CAM-POST we accomplish this target easily and accurately.'
'We will continue working with ICAM Technologies as a strategic partner for our business.'

'Software Speeds Car Designs From Wind Tunnel To Racetrack'
'We use CAM-POST to generate the NC code for the difficult surfacing involved with the (car) body work. We are currently using Mazak 4-axis vertical milling machines, and we have Mazak 3 and 4-axis lathes.'
'CAM-POST was set up so that we could change different variables, like table travel and maximum spindle speed, for example, to suit the different Mazak CNC machines.'
'We have been using CAM-POST for the past four years, and we have not needed to use any other post-processor, since CAM-POST is able to meet all our expectations.'
