Company History
Since 1971, the focus of the firm has remained the same:
consulting services for people and the environment. Our goal as
consultants is to contribute to the preservation and enhancement
of socially viable communities, improving corporate environmental
responsibility and supporting organizations to manage transition
and change. Our consulting services contribute to the quality of
life in the communities where we work by minimizing adverse
social and environmental impacts; planning for the delivery of
community and consulting services which are essential to healthy,
livable municipalities; improving corporate environmental
performance through consulting services; and assisting
organizations to develop management strategies which maximize
their effectiveness.
IER provides a range of consulting services in six key areas:
Consultation and Communication; Environmental and Community
Studies; Training; First Nation Studies; Management Studies; and
International Projects. IER staff have training and consulting
services experience in such diverse areas as:
- stakeholder consultation;
- environmental planning and assessment;
- socio-economic impact assessment;
- natural resources management;
- GIS and information systems;
- organizational analysis and management studies;
- strategic planning;
- public consulting services;
- program evaluation; and
- planning for the needs of special populations including
Aboriginals and older adults.

federal and provincial departments in Canada and abroad; more
than 100 municipalities; over 50 First Nations communities; the
United Nations Development Program; the United States
Environmental Protection Agency; Ontario Hydro/Ontario Power
Generation; Atomic Energy of Canada Limited, and major companies
such as Canadian National Railway, Chrysler Canada, Harley
