Environmental Products And Services
Hewitt Environmental.
Hewitt Environmental Inc.'s Roverboats are designed for use on rivers, harbours, ports, inland waterways and open seas. This line of vessels can recover up to 97% of an oil spill while the sheen recovery system recovers more than 99% of oil sheen. As well, the Hewitt line of Roverboats have floating debris and deweeder systems that are extremely effective and costefficient.
The vessels can operate in constricted areas. As shown in the 'Sectional View of Vessel,' the vessel's bow consists of two jaws which are opened hydraulically to act as a gathering funnel. Water with debris, oil or oil sheen is then drawn into the vessel at a high flow rate (about 27,300 gallons/minute). There are no moving parts to interfere with the substance being collected. The ballast tanks also lower the boat allowing polluted water to flow into the hull with minimum turbulence.
Floating debris is collected in a retractable grated bucket which then raises trash and weeds from the collection area and deposits them into a bin on deck. The special oil skimmer system separates floating oil from water as it passes through the vessel. The oil selection process is based on using a flow pattern which uses the specific gravity differences and different relative velocities of the layers of liquid to separate the oil and water.
