Founded in 1964 by Therese and Henri Fontaine, H. Fontaine Ltd. has established itself as a world leader in water control product technology. Fontaine was first committed to the installation and maintenance of domestic and agricultural pumping networks. Over time and as opportunities arose, the organization initiated an impressive transition by channeling its teams strengths to focus on the design, manufacture and distribution of high quality sluice gates and other water control equipment for use in environmental industries.

Fontaine was one of the first companies to offer stainless steel sluice gates to the water and wastewater marketplace in the early 1980s. The introduction of this new, high quality and more versatile product line enabled Fontaine to take its place as a leader in the water control market.

Since then, Fontaine has expanded its line of products while maintaining a high level of quality. Fontaine was certified ISO 9001 in 1997 thanks to its exemplary product quality control and its excellent service, at all levels. The company is now registered ISO 9001: 2000. Fontaine also holds certifications for safe drinking water equipment (NSF/AINSI 61 and ACS) and carries CE and ATEX marking on products for Europe.

Year 2003 was filled with new developments for Fontaine, with the opening of three subsidiaries in Europe to better serve its customers overseas. The Fontaine organization now has over 160 employees, 5 subsidiaries, 2 sales offices and 70 manufacturing representatives spread out in 23 countries.
