Approved for use in hazardous areas categorized as Class 1 Division 1 and 2 Groups B, C, and D and Class II Divisions 1 and 2, Groups E, F, and G. The telephone has a copper-free, cast aluminum enclosure which is weather proof (NEMA 4X), dust proof and corrosion resistant.

The Model SCT-20 has meet environmental guidelines as set forth by the United States Department of Defense, specifically MIL-STD 810E. (environmental). These telephones are designed for and used in applications such as mines (hard-rock, potash, etc.) whose environments may be dusty, wet, or very humid.

Three telephones in the WTT series are housed in polymer enclosures with spring-mounted doors. Units are weather proof, dust proof and corrosion resistant with or without their doors being closed. These telephones are designed for use in weather-exposed locations and can resist rough use.
