F. R. Chowdhury (Pvt) Ltd. was incorporated on August 15, 1978 under the Companies Act of 1913. It took over the assets and liabilities of the sole proprietorship of Mr. F. R. Chowdhury. Since its inception F. R. Chowdhury Ltd. has become a major construction firm in Bangladesh.
In the early 1990's the Managing Director, Mr. F. R. Chowdhury, foresaw many of the challenges that business in Bangladesh face today and he decide to diversify F. R. Chowdhury Ltd.'s investments. In 1994 the company expanded its operations by setting up a subsidiary in Canada called Chowdhury F. R. Canada Inc. The subsidiary made investments in restaurant and retail businesses and currently has investment in real estate but F. R. Chowdhury Ltd. remained active in its core construction business. In 2000, F. R. Chowdhury Ltd. won its largest contract with Bangladesh Railway and has maintained itself as a leading construction firm in Bangladesh.
Recently, the company appointed two new Vice Presidents to show its commitment to its core construction business and also search for new investment opportunities. Mr. Ronny Chowdhury, Vice President Sales & Marketing, will search for partnership or joint ventures opportunities with International companies interested in doing business in Bangladesh. While Mr. Mohsin Chowdhury, Vice President Finance, will assist the Managing Director with the current active projects and also search for new construction projects within Bangladesh.
Today, F. R. Chowdhury Ltd. has six active projects worth over 189.5 million taka and Mr. Chowdhury remains on as the Managing Director and in charge of our core construction business.
