Digital Elevation Modelling/Orthoimages
Stereo photography and satellite imagery may be digitally processed to yield elevation models of the imaged terrain. The elevation models are useful in themselves for engineering design, intervisibility analysis, and watershed analysis. In addition, the elevation model may be used to correct the geometric distortions in the image which arise from terrain height variations and thereby create and 'orthorectified image', or orthoimage.
