Escher-Grad Technologies, Inc. is a worldwide industry leader in the research, development, manufacturing and marketing of advanced-technology, high resolution laser imaging systems providing powerful, fully integrated productivity solutions for the graphic arts, catrography, textile and printed circuit board industries.
Designed specifically with the printer in mind, Escher-Grad Full Format Imaging Systems bring three important concepts to the printing world: Image size that is equal to plate size, full size digital signature proofs and a single RIP capable of driving multiple devices. Each Escher-Grad Imaging system integrates the latest in materials, components, and technology to bring the very best throughput, quality, reliability and value for price to the printing industry.
Since 1986, Escher-Grad Technologies Inc. has advanced the art and science of high resolution imaging systems. The Cobalt series of CTP systems is the latest innovation in Escher-Grads long history of achievements and service to the printing industry. A strong commitment to aggressive levels of R & D ensures the technological leadership position that results in superior imaging systems. In keeping with its mission to become the world's leading independent manufacture of violet CTP systems, Escher-Grad continues on a course of carefully planned growth.
The company holds patents for several important technology advances that have been developed in its research laboratories. Among them are single-beam laser diode technology, which incorporates such advances as glass encoders, DC servo motors and high-speed air-bearing mirror motors and unique light-proof film cartridges that provide automatic daylight capabilities. Escher-Grad's EG-2000* was the first daylight laser plotting system in the laser imaging industry.
All products are backed by local, Escher-Grad certified, sales and support organizations present in more than 60 countries around the world.
Full format imaging is the conceptual foundation of the entire line of film and plate imaging engines. Each Escher-Grad imagesetter has been designed to image an entire printing press flat on film or polyester plate, virtually eliminating manual prepress operations and waste. Imagesetters range in output format from 26 X 30 inch (660 X 762 mm) up to 50 X 62 inch (1270 X 1575 mm). Variable width and length options are also available on most models allowing users to further customize the output size of individual jobs. Escher-Grad CTP systems offer either manual for fully automated operations and a choice of laser light sources enables imaging on thermal or laser speed plates.
Once the decision is made to output directly to large format film or plate, proofing becomes a critical issue. The TrueProoferTM II is the second generation digital proofing device from Escher-Grad. A large fromat CYMK proofing device, the TrueProofer II images a full 36 X 50 inch (914 X 1279 mm) signature proof in a single pass in approximately 8 minutes.
Driving the Escher-Grad Imaging Systems is the Escher-Grad line of RIPServers. Escher-Grad pioneered the concept of using a single RIP architecture to guarantee image integrity between all output - from proof to both film and plate. Escher-Grad RIPServers are available on various hardware platforms and feature either Adobe PostScriptTM Level 2 or Harlequin Enhanced PostScript technologies.
Escher-Grad has a worldwide installed base in more than twenty- five countries. It recently expanded its distribution and service capabilities still further through agreements with leading distributors serving major markets throughout Europe, North America, the Pacific Rim and the Middle-East. As it continues on a course of carefully planned growth, Escher-Grad Technologies is committed to aggressively pursue research and development of technology and systems that will bring still higher productivity and profitable performance to the industries it serves.

Escher-Grad's line or full format imaging solutions include both Computer-to-Plate and Computer-to-Film systems. The Cobalt 8 is the industry's first violet-laser diode platesetter and is capable of imaging 31.5' x 40.5' plates in 3.3 minutes. It images on high-speed blue-violet sensitive metal plates and environment-friendly silver-free media available form mulitple vendors.
Escher-Grad's complete line of film ImageSetters are capable of producing fully imposed and stripped flats direct to film or polyester plate material from 26' x 30' to 50' x 62' formats. Fully automated features include an automatic film handling system and inline processor for complete daylight operations, user selectable on-line punches and variable width and length features ensuring the flexibility to match several press sizes with a single output device.
All Escher-Grad's imaging devices are driven by the Escher-Grad RIPServer using either an Adobe PostScript Level 3 or Harlequin Enhanced PostScript interpreter. Alternatively, with Escher-Grad's ImageSpool software application with accepts 1-bit TIFFs from any workflow, all imaging devices can image jobs from any workflow while retaining key workflow features.
The Escher-Grad EG-2205 is a Flat-bed Laser Photoplotter that uses a patented red laser diode at 635nm to image HeNe or red sensitive silver halide film in the printed circuit board industry. It can accomodate 3 sizes of film, 12x18", 18x24" and 20x26". Film can be imaged in variable resolutions from 500-4000 dpi.
The Equinox is a 25 x 30 inch high-performance Internal Drum Laser Photoplotting System that comes complete with an in-line film processor, silver recovery unit and water recirculation unit. It can be operated in complete daylight, including film loading, and only requires electricity and electronic data files to operate. It uses a patented red laser diode to image HeNe or red sensitive silver halide film in the printed circuit board industry. Film can be imaged in variable resolutions from 500-8000 dpi, variable widths of 14-26" and variable lengths of 25-30".
