The installation of the first MD-1000 Medical Waste Reduction Unit began in late September

  • The site is located in Speke, a suburb of

Liverpool, England (See Figure 6). Staff from Ajax arrived at the site on September 26 to begin the assembly and commissioning. The State Group are providing the mechanical and electrical expertise for the installation of the unit. The MD-1000 is being installed in a separate building on the site and the location will be used as a central demonstration facility for prospective purchasers from the United Kingdom and throughout Europe (See Figure 7 for the site entrance). Once in operation, the waste disposal site will treat medical waste from nearby Merseysides hospitals. Completion of the installation is expected by the end of March 2001 with full production capability by April 2001. Production data and performance statistics are expected to be available in mid-

second MD-1000 to be delivered in 2001.

    The Tire Reduction Facility completely reduces the scrap tires and allows the recovery of the valuable components of carbon black, steel and hydrocarbons from the reduction chambers using Microwave Induced Sublimation. The hydrocarbons are used to generate excess power available for sale. The system is extremely flexible and facilities are designed in 1, 500 tire/day modules (1, 500 tires/day, 3, 000 tires/day, 6, 000 tires/day, etc.). The model TR-6000 processes 6, 000 tires daily, reclaiming approximately 22.5 tonnes of carbon black, 5.5 tonnes of steel and up to 31.5 tonnes of hydrocarbons with a gross power production capacity of 6 MW.
