E.H. Hanson Engineering Group, founded in 1980 as E.H Hanson & Associates Ltd., is a consulting engineering firm which specializes in landfill gas and soils gas related projects, including capture & utilization of landfill gas as an energy source and lowering greenhouse gas emissions - Also protecting of building from soil produced mathane.


E.H. Hanson Engineering strives to find unique opportunities for utilization of landfill gas. The gas is destroyed through combustion to create energy and has proven to be an excellent, clean burning fuel. Consequently, there is an increasing demand for the company's services by environmentally aware clients, such as cities and municipalities who operate landfills.

Our companies have also developed technology for using the CO content of landfill gaz to promote growth in greenhouses.

Much of the experience of E.H. Hanson's personnel has been of a hands-on nature which gives the company a practical knowledge of landfill gas extraction, flaring, and utilization systems. E.H. Hanson Engineering projects have ranged from conceptual studies to turn-key services with personnel experienced in the design, installation, maintenance and operation of these systems.


ENERGY PRODUCTION:


E.H. Hanson personnel also have experience in the selection, installation and operation of various types of equipment used for extracting, conditioning and transporting the landfill gas. Instrumentation and process controls for the systems are designed in-house and have included gas mixing stations, gas metering systems, and compressor station control.

We specialize in providing landfill gaz extraction usage systems which require a low frenquency of attendance and thus low operating costs.


SAFETY & HEALTH CONSIDERATIONS:


Buildings constructed over or near landfills or peat bogs run the risk of collecting methane gas under and in the structure. E.H. Hanson has undertaken numerous site evaluations to determine the extent of soil gas emissions and the threat these emissions pose to new and existing structures. Where warranted, E.H. Hanson designs and installs systems which eliminate any soil gas hazards. These systems either extract the gas or inject air into the soil to prevent gas formation.

Landfill Gas Extraction And Utilization System.
Landfill gas extraction systems can be installed in both operating and closed landfills to extract the combustible and malodorous gases generated by the decay of buried refuse. Once collected, the gas can either be utilized as an energy source similar to natural gas, or disposed of on site. Systems of this nature are installed primarily to allow landfills to operate within government guidelines and reduce greenhouse gas emissions. However, these systems can have the added benefit of revenue generation from the sale of the landfill gas.

Landfill Gas Migration Control System.
Landfills which pose a threat to adjacent properties through underground migration of landfill gas can utilize a migration control system. These systems are installed between the landfill and adjacent properties to serve as a barrier preventing migration. They incorporate air injection to increase ground pressure and ensure an aerobic environment between the landfill and adjacent properties.
