Duerden & Keane can provide comprehensive training in the development of appropriate environmental emergency response procedures and can assist facilities, agencies and organizations in the preparation of their own cost effective contingency plans. Duerden & Keane can also assess the abilities of the personnel in an organization to respond to an emergency, identify gaps in knowledge and develop training appropriate to fill any voids. Duerden & Keane would also identify other resource requirements and develop plans to acquire needed resources and equipment. In the preparation of emergency response plans, Duerden & Keane would establish an appropriate response structure within the existing management and organizational framework, establish effective communication systems within the organization; delineate roles and responsibilities and specify both immediate and ongoing training needs. Development And Implementation Of Effective And Efficient Site Assessment And Remediation Plans.
Duerden & Keane Consultants Inc. can provide comprehensive training related to all aspects of environmental site assessments for contaminated sites. In order to accurately determine if there are any potential or actual liabilities associated with a property, an owner must conduct, or more often, contract for an environmental site assessment. Duerden & Keane can provide on-site training related to all phases of site assessments. These include the early records review and initial site visit, development of sampling plans, site sampling, identification of contaminant levels and extent, remedial action plans and long term monitoring. The key to managing liabilities associated with contaminated sites is the development and delivery of a cost effective and site-specific site assessment and remedial action plan. Duerden & Keane can provide on-site supervision of any of the required activities; evaluate technical issues and reports; interpret regulatory requirements and effectively liaise with regulatory agencies. The company can design an economical and technically sound site assessment process appropriate for the specific situation and ensure that it is effectively implemented.

Development Of A Hazardous Waste Management Plan.
Duerden & Keane Consultants Inc. can develop a hazardous waste management plan specific to any facility handling such materials. The required tasks would focus on practical issues to ensure the plan incorporated procedures which could be implemented with available resources. Three aspects of waste management would be incorporated into the plan: administrative, technical and operational. The administrative aspect would detail the regulatory requirements applicable to the facility and would designate personnel requirements. Specifically, the duties of the hazardous waste coordinator would be documented and training needs identified. Required training programs would be developed and delivered on site. In the technical portion of the plan, an accurate inventory of hazardous wastes at the facility would be compiled and handling/disposal options for each waste developed. Again, specific personnel training needs will be identified and training modules developed and delivered on site. The operational portion of the plan will list wastes, their hazard characteristics and their handling and disposal procedures in a user-friendly format to be made readily available to all staff. The complete plan is an integral part of any comprehensive environmental management system and is evidence of due diligence in the control hazardous wastes.
