Dewey McMillin & Associates Ltd.
Dewey McMillin & Associates Ltd was established initially to
transfer the technology developed in the Shock Studies
Laboratory
at the University of Victoria.
The Principals have over forty five years experience in the
development of diagnostic techniques for the analysis of blast
waves from explosive sources with masses varying from less than
a
gram to several thousand tonnes, and for the study of shock wave
reflections in shock tubes. Most of these are high speed
photogrammetric techniques.
The Company has developed and licences the AirBlast expert
system
which provides detailed descriptions of the physical properties
of blast waves from any size of source, detonated in the free
air, on the ground surface or at a specified height of burst.
The EBlast expert system is now available for licensing. EBlast
assists emergency measures personnel who must take action in the
event of an explosive emergency. The system will accept an
inprecise description of an explosive source, such as a
terrorist
device or a military munition, and will provide information
about
the distances at which structural damage and injury will occur,
taking into consideration the influence of various urban
environments.
Dewey McMillin & Associates provides blast wave diagnostic
services for tests involving explosive sources in air, and
general consultation on the effects of blast waves.
Four and five day short courses on the 'Physical Properties of
Blast Waves
and their Interaction with Structures' are offered.
