The pigging process. The DDT pigging process is the safest and most expeditious way to clean fired heater tubes. The process employs a closed loop, self contained hydraulic system, making it a very safe and environmentally friendly way to clean heater tubes. It is a process bidirectional, allowing the cleaning Pigg to traverse the heater tubes in both directions. DDT is the holder of many patents world wide and has also licenced the use of the technology to third parties. It is the only technology that will remove every kind of deposit in all types of fired heaters. Because the DDT process uses no chemicals and works at ambient temperatures, it can be used to clean a multiplicity of process lines, such as convection section, external crossover lines, coke transfer lines, and other sections that cannot be cleaned by traditional methods.

The DDT Pigg
The DDT Pigg - a compliant and flexible cleaning device
- is the key to the DDT process. This polymer Pig is available in
diameters from 16mm ('), to as large as 914mm (36'). Each DDT Pigg carries an array of interchangeable cleaning appendages or studs, each of which is threaded into the body of the pig. These cleaning appendages are radially dispersed in a clockwise or counter clockwise pattern to provide a complete 360 cleaning action. It is the ONLY Pigg design that incorporates interchangeable appendages. This patented design enables the operator to adapt to all conditions encountered in refinery heaters.
