Fields of specialization include sewage collection, treatment, disposal and reclaimed water reuse; water supply, treatment and distribution; stormwater management, solid waste management,
SCADA systems, and trenchless technology.
Expertise is provided in sanitary engineering, hydraulics,
hydrology, structural, electrical, mechanical design, computer modelling, PLC and SCADA programming and construction management.

COMPUTER FACILITIES
Dayton & Knight Ltd. has addressed improvements to engineering design and drafting production by continuously investing in, evaluating and developing the most efficient methods of producing client work products using the latest in computer aided drafting (CAD). The emphasis has always been placed on using methods which provide the highest quality and most economical product to our clients. In pursuing this philosophy,
our personnel have developed substantial experience in CAD production.
Our current CAD configuration is based on Pentium personal computer work stations emphasizing high microprocessing speed for individual station productivity. We currently use AUTOCAD Release 2000 because it is extremely versatile and has earned acceptance as an industry standard. For production of final work products, we have plotting devices available, including a D-size laser plotter and a large sized, high-speed, Hewlett-
Packard plotter for production of final full-sized work
products. Dayton & Knight Ltd. has a philosophy of continuous commitment to hardware and software improvements within the organization so that all personnel have access to and experience
in utilizing the most advanced design and production methods in the consulting services industry.
In addition to the Network system for all the computers in the office, Dayton & Knight Ltd. has a ADSL high speed internet connection connecting to our clients and our satellite offices.
CONTINUING EDUCATION AND TECHNOLOGY TRANSFER
All engineers with Dayton & Knight Ltd. are encouraged to pursue further education. Each engineer is sent on a technical course or conference each year.
Senior engineers have attended and presented papers at ASCE, BCW&W, RMWWA, AWWA and ISA Conferences since 1970.
Engineers are encouraged to present papers that in recent years have been offered to professional associations of American Water Works Association, Water Environment Federation, International
Water Association, American Public Works Association, Trenchless Technologies Association, American Society of Civil Engineers, Canadian Society for Civil Engineering, B.C. Water and Wastes Association, Water Resources Canada, among others. All in all, 20 to 30 presentations are made per year on water treatment,
wastewater practices, solid wastes, drainage, SCADA, trenchless technologies, modelling and management.
As well as keeping abreast of these technologies, engineers lecture and provide training courses for university, technical colleges and public organizations.
Dayton & Knight Ltd. participates in our wholly funds research projects, and currently is pursuing work in water treatment technology, biosolids reuse, abatement processes, and WWTP tertiary treatment processes.

Pasteurisation By Thermophilic Digestion, Heat Drying And Thermal Chemical Treatment
Design for Anaerobic and Aerobic thermophilic digestion processes are available through Dayton & Knight Ltd. As well as, evaluation of thermal-chemical and larger technologies, and design are provided.
Trenchless Technologies
Trenchless technologies such as directional drilling, micro-tunnelling, pipe bursting, sliplining, cured-in-place pipe and Fold and Form linings are increasingly being utilised to install and rehabilitate underground infrastructure. The benefits include: minimal environmental and impact and public disruption; can be more cost-effective then traditional open excavation; utilises existing infrastructure and space; and improved worker safety.
