Downham Nurseries (1993) Inc., is a grower and wholesaler of a broad line of nursery stock, including field grown evergreens, container evergreens, flowering shrubs, ornamental trees, and vines.

The Company's operations consist of a growing farm (360 acres), a flowering shrub container range (25 acres), and the main facility (York Street) of 23 acres where container evergreens and ornamental trees are grown, and which houses the administration office, cold storage, shipping facilities, and the new propagation greenhouse.

Approximately 85% of all stock sold by Downham is grown by Downham at its own facilities, and 90% of grown items are propagated by Downham.

Our propagation greenhouse is a 15, 000 square foot gutter connect with computer controlled heating, cooling and misting systems. We utilize it for 3 turns per year. The first is early season softwoods (spireas, potentillas, etc.) next are the late season softwoods (over winter in cooler) and finally the hardwoods (evergreens, prunus cistena, cornus shrub varieties, etc.), all in 2-1/4' X 3' peat pots placed directly on the floor, which is heated in winter.

Downham's success has been the result of a strategy and goal of 'Complete Customer Satisfaction'. Producing and shipping quality products is obviously a very important part of this.
