D. A. Watt Consulting Group Ltd. is a Calgary based firm of Professional Engineers and Land Surveyors, originally incorporated in Alberta in 1983. Our company provides a wide range of general Civil and Municipal Engineering, Land Surveying and Transportation Planning and Engineering services to clients in both the public and private sectors.

Our staff of 40 includes Professional Engineers and Alberta Land Surveyors, as well as CAD operators, engineering surveyors, legal surveyors and construction supervisors, who possess extensive experience in all aspects of design and construction, materials control, and project management.

D. A. Watt Consulting Group Ltd. employs the latest in computer technology in both office and field to achieve accuracy and efficiency in design and construction. For office calculations and plotting purposes, we are equipped with the AutoCad Computer Aided Drafting system. Field work is carried out using Total Station instruments and Electronic Notebooks where appropriate.

As a relatively small company, our Senior Engineers and Land Surveys are able to devote personal attention to projects. We are constantly striving to provide an efficient and effective level of service while continuing to maintain personal involvement with each of our clients.

D. A. Watt Consulting Group Ltd. is divided into three operating divisions, each focusing on a specific facet of our consulting practice. All groups maintain a close working relationship, with many projects involving personnel from two or more divisions. To ensure we can completely and efficiently service the needs of our clients, D. A. Watt Consulting Group Ltd. has formed strategic alliances with a select group of independent consulting firms who provide complimentary services. In addition to the specific services listed below, we are able to provide a comprehensive project management package, having successfully done so for a number of our clients.

The Development Services group has extensive experience and is well qualified to provide a broad range of Civil and Municipal Engineering and Land Development consulting services. These include:

• design and construction of water supply, storage and

distribution facilities

• storm sewer system design and construction, including

retention ponds and control devices, and overland drainage studies

• design and construction of sewage collection and disposal

infrastructure, including package treatment plants, force mains and treatment mounds

• roadway design and construction
• subdivision feasibility studies, including cost estimates and

budgeting

• planning, land use design, legal subdivision
• liaison and negotiations with approving authorities
• mechanical site plans for industrial and commercial sites
• complete CAD, computer modelling and drafting services
• airport engineering, including pavement design, construction

supervision and renovation

Finn Transportation Consultants (FINN) is a specialist transportation planning and engineering practice, operating as a division of D. A. Watt Consulting Group Ltd. FINN staff have provided transportation consulting services to public and private-sector clients in Western Canada and elsewhere for more than 15 years and are able to offer a broad range of services to the private development sector and public/institutional clients. These include:

• transportation planning and engineering
• noise studies (road and rail)
• site planning, design and access management
• public sector transportation studies
• site traffic impact studies
• site planning, design and access management
• CAD services, including 3-D computer graphics for project

visualization.

Under the direction of our senior ALS, the Legal Survey department provides a full range of services, many of which compliment the operations of our other divisions:

• subdivision layout and survey, including mechanical site plans
• complete legal and engineering surveying for roadways, sewers

and irrigation canals
