Compar Corporation was established in 1976 and began shipping its first interconnect products in 1977 under a licensing agreement with a U. S. corporation to produce Card-Edge connectors. By 1979, Compar had become independent of its U. S. partner and in 1981 expanded its product line and entered the D- Subminiature connector market. In 1991 Compar ventured into specialized contract manufacturing activities as a result of the companys manufacturing capabilities.

Today, Compar has expanded it products/services offering with an emphasis on integrated display/touchscreen products, battery products and custom cable assemblies, in addition to its original interconnect products.

Compar is headquartered in Markham, Ontario, Canada. This location houses the companys executive and administrative offices in addition to its manufacturing plant.

The manufacturing operation has a dedicated production group focusing on integrated display/touchscreen products, and production areas for assembly of interconnect products and battery packs. A stocking area holds raw material and finished goods inventory.

In addition, the plant has a variety of semi-automated equipment and a machine shop, which allows for easy tooling modifications. This allows Compar to offer wide manufacturing flexibility not found in most mass production operations and lends itself to the type of customized solutions the company promotes to its customers. Customers benefit from faster turnaround times and reduced tooling costs.

• Batteries - Standard

  Compar distributes a wide range of standard cells from some of the industries leading cell manufacturers. A variety of sizes and chemistries are available to meet our customers production or service needs. Battery chemistries available include nickel metal hydride, nickel cadmium, lithium rechargeable, lithium ion, lithium thionyl chloride, sealed lead acid and alkaline.

• Battery Packs

  Compar has for many years assembled high quality, custom battery packs for a wide variety of applications. We offer design flexibility with a broad range of battery technologies. Custom casing, charging circuitry and wiring can be manufactured and assembled on the premises. Many large battery pack consumers recognize Compar as a very high quality assembly house.

  Compar also packages sealed lead acid batteries to meet our customers configuration needs. Whether it be connection of wiring harnesses, special housing or integration of charging units, our goal is to save our customers time by eliminating their non-core manufacturing processes.

• Kiosk Solutions

  Compar offers a line of standard Kiosk products as well as custom designed state-of-the-art Kiosks for both informational and transactional applications. These Kiosks can be configured with a variety of options including LCD touchscreens, card readers, thermal printers, telephone handsets, stereo speakers, with or without keyboard, as well as other specific options. Kiosks include a compact computer that can be replaced within minutes making field service easy. Kiosks are available in tabletop, wall mount and freestanding versions and are fabricated in metal providing durability and security.

  Compar offers a full range of products including CRT, LCD and Kiosk Touchmonitors. These monitors are designed to suit a multitude of applications whether it is tailored to specific kiosk solutions, space constrained applications, environmental requirements or activation with a finger, gloved hand or stylus, Compar has the appropriate technology required to meet the need.
