There are many project management and scheduling software packages in the market. Most of them cannot build a 'feasible schedule' automatically. Some that do, use one or more scheduling rules to build a 'feasible schedule' Clevor Schedule Optiomizers build a schedule that 'optimizes' a given business onjective. It also has other features that take advantage of alternative resources and available quantities of resources.

July 2004 We have been using Clevor Schedule Optimizer for scheduling our electrical construction projects being managed from our Saskatoon office since June 2003. This software is being used to develop detailed schedules for all the major projects we undertake, to track their progress and to update the project schedules.
before we started using Clevor Schedule Optimizer, we used to dispatch crews to each of the projects based on the estimate of the work available at each site by the foreman, and the availability of the crews. This process is the same as that used by most contractors. We could track the number of manhours used in each of the projects, but could not accurately track the amount of work being completed. This resulted in cost over runs that were generally identified only at the end of the project, when there was little that couls be done to improve the situation.
Now, we produce project schedule using Clevor Schedule Optimizer with mucg more details, including milestones that are controlled by others but have an impact on the schedule. This has resulted in better planning and coordination with other sub-contractors. We are also able to identify the cost overruns by task. This has resulted in better and tighter estimates for scheduling. It has also triggered several initiatives to find and use best practices, both from our own crews as well as from others. This has resulted in significant savings. However, we believe that by continuing to use this software and method improvements that have followed, we will continue to improve our productivity and the bottom line.
